Schultz Wing Collection

selectism - schultz wing collection

The amount of ambitious outdoor furniture seems to be on the rise. Once, more or less, confined to plastic or teak, designers are granting attention to the homes exterior spaces. Most fascinating are pieces that draw on historical precedent for inspiration.Richard Schultz, who has worked extensively with Knoll, turns the wing chair into airy, summer time seating furniture.

One of the old wives tales of decorative arts remains that wing chairs were first designed for invalids, the shaped sides allowing head support and shield from drafts. Regardless of that reality, Schultz’s work brilliantly takes from the form, and with the addition of some tables, turns it to an outdoor suite.
