selectism - rotating architecture

National Park Service architectural historian Chad Randl’s new book focuses on that subset of buildings that rotate. Revolving Architecture: The History of Buildings that Rotate, Swivel and Pivot is a cultural investigation of a unique building type. From rotating prisons (allowing the warden greater opportunity to watch his charges)to the glamorous notion of revolving restaurants, Randl covers the gamut. He finds thatthe rotating building is both applauded for ingenuity and disregarded as a folly. Architectural achievements from the 1800s to contemporary residential spaces are also covered. On the way from Princeton Architectural Press
