If you don’t recognize the names Georgia O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams, you probably don’t know much about art. If you do know the names, but have never connected their work, you are probably not alone. Georgia O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams: Natural Affinities is the first exhibition that pairs O’Keeffe’s painting and Adams’ photography. Both artists were intensely connected to the sights, sounds and landscape of the American Southwest and shared a great love for the city of Santa Fe and the surrounding region.
The exhibition is now open at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, and closes on January 4, 2009.
