Over the past few months we’ve written about a number of books detailing the use of art and design in socialist and communist (and fascist) regimes. Among them, there is Steven Heller’s Iron Fists: Branding the 20th-Century Totalitarian State Art and Branding in the Age of Democracy  We’ve also spent some time discussing the use of design in the 2008 presidential election. On those notes, Art Info published an interview with Boris Groys today discussing the role and place of art in the age of Democracy. Groys also gives his opinions on personal brand building, and the difference between an artist design project and true design. One of the best reads of the day. Check it here.
