One can never go wrong with having a solid art survey on the book shelf. Published by Yale University Press and edited by Chris Stephens (this volume) and David Bindman (in total), The History of British Art covers a serious swath of artistic movement and canonical painters. Picking just one has obvious pitfalls, the full story is always great, but that said Volume 3: 1870-Now gives the basics on the complex role of art and artists in the history of Modern Britain. Plus, if contemporary is your thing, the story should allow some understanding of how we’ve arrived where we are now in the art world.

Perfect for reading or marathon sessions of Halo, the Chaise Longue by Arthur Rottier has been designed for display at the IMM Cologne Furniture Fair this month. Called the AR1 it is constructed from EPS and polyther foam with leather like cover on the cushions. Rottier works for the furniture company PCS. (Via Dezeen).

Italy’s Allegri line is re-focusing their production around a “new environmental awareness” which “reconcile[s] the demands of modernity with respect for nature.” The fabrics in the Allegri Spring/Summer 2009 collection for Allegri are built around “intellgent fibers” which create waterproof fabrics without the use of typical classic coatings. They idea is to reduce waste while keeping their technical wear breathable and wearable. Many of the Allegri outerwear looks are built to be worn in a variety of conditions. Sleeves as well as collars may be removed depending on the climate or choice of look. We applaud their re-focus on a greener world. (via mr)

After a small venue change, the premier independent mens fashion tradeshow, (capsule) show lands its racks inside the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino on February 18 and 19. This is a first for the (capsule) show: it quickly branched out from it’s New York roots to includes shows in Paris and now Las Vegas.

Participating brands include for Las Vegas include, Buzz Rickson’s, Red Wing, YMC, Sugarcane, Warriors of Radness, and many more.

While Lad Musician are available in the EU and US, they’re still pretty hard to get hold of. However, if you have the desire and/or the means to get hold of anything by the brand, these bulky mohair hats are a must buy.
