The master of all things workwear has turned us onto a new limited release collaboration between Barbour and Japan’s To Ki To that will happil receive some delivery in the USA as well. The French record label/label Kitsune drops a great jacket for the Spring/Summer 2009 seasons. The jacket, designed by Masaya Kuroki and Gildas Loaec, is striped blue and white and features that sly fox over the heart. Available now from Colette. Paris matters.

Check shirts have blown up over the last few years and it doesn’t look like a trend that’s going to die anytime soon. This Uniforms for the dedicated shirt would be just another check shirt if not for the unique detailing across the center. We could do without the styling in the picture though, as the shirt is best worn with the sleeves up and the collar open. Get it from Plus 46.

Sweden’s Whyszeck previews their Autumn/Winter 2009 collection with looks inspired by the “De Stijls’” movement. “The FW09 collection takes inspiration from the De stijl group’s “neo-plastisism”, based strictly on geometry of horizontals and verticals, with a primary use of colors black & white, and the redefinition named “Elemantarism” by van Doesburg which added the use of the diagonals, colorized with dissonant colors.”

Acne held a presentation/party at Swedish Fashion week to show their A/W 09 collection. The collection carried on the stylish basics that the company are known while throwing a few curveballs in the mix in the form of fur coats and wedge-like boots (which we’re sure was just used for styling purposes). Rickard Lindqvist displayed his A/W 2009 range last week at Swedish fashion week and the collection looked to build on his strong showings in previous seasons. With a focus on sharply tailored jackets, knitwear of various sizes and overlong scarves, the overall collection is one that could easily translate into anyone’s wardrobe – regardless of their personal style. Peter Blake, known to many as the father of British Pop Art, and influence on many younger generations of artists has created twenty new prints published by Paul Stolper, entitled ’The Venice Suite’, inspired by his recent experiences in the Italian city.

The prints are on view at Paul Stolper, 31 Museum Street, London, WC1A. “The Venice Suite” will remain on view until February 28, 2009.

Not every day does the sports page yield a tract on design. With the Super Bowl coming on Sunday, John Branch gives thought to the growth of the big game’s logo. Granted, the results are not always stunning, and often look a bit cheap, but they are part of the national consciousness (if only for a fleeting moment each winter). Check out his views at the NYT.
