Samsonite Black Label showed their latest collaboration with designers, Viktor & Rolf for Fall/Winter 2009 at Bread and Butter, Barcelona. The collaborative luggage comes in two sets – one in black and the second in patterned leather – which include a leather carry on and two roll-away luggage units. Look for them at Samsonite Black Label flagship stores late this summer.

Now the hundred-year-old brand gets a modern spin with 23 updated men’s and women’s pieces, including Navajo blankets refashioned as bell skirts and patchwork plaid shirts with contrasting color sleeves. Furniture that provides the comfort of your old overstuffed standby without the heavy, space consuming form takes some able balancing. Christian Werner devised the Torn Lounge Chair through playing with a piece of cardboard. That said, the chair evokes an aerospace feel. Werner, based in Hamburg, designed the chair for Ligne Roset. Their A/W 2009 collections sees a number of classic shoe styles, with oxfords, chukkas and brogues. We’ve seen a good number of collaborative bicycle efforts in the last half year. Many of these combine the creative force of fashion brands with the know how of a well respected biking firm. Acne, based in Sweden, and Bianchi are the latest to join forces. As the folks at Wallpaper* put it, “Some of the more interesting designs in urban are, perhaps not surprisingly, emerging from non-traditional sources,” a statement not completely out of line with the what many marketers hope for out of a collaboration. In any event, the bicycle will see the light of retail day in March through Acne Studios in New York and via special order at AcneStudios.com.
