Here’s a quick preview of two new patterned bags from Penfield. The backpack and messenger are part of their forthcoming Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. The fabrics are sourced inside the U.S.A. and offers a Native American Indian pattern for the finish.

Samsonite Black Label showed their latest collaboration with designers, Viktor & Rolf for Fall/Winter 2009 at Bread and Butter, Barcelona. The collaborative luggage comes in two sets – one in black and the second in patterned leather – which include a leather carry on and two roll-away luggage units. Look for them at Samsonite Black Label flagship stores late this summer.

R29 reports in on Opening Ceremony’s coming collaboration with Pendleton. “The boutique has announced a collaboration with Pendleton, who we all know and love for their perfect flannels and functional utilitarian wear. Now the hundred-year-old brand gets a modern spin with 23 updated men’s and women’s pieces, including Navajo blankets refashioned as bell skirts and patchwork plaid shirts with contrasting color sleeves. The line hits stores in August…”

Furniture that provides the comfort of your old overstuffed standby without the heavy, space consuming form takes some able balancing. Christian Werner devised the Torn Lounge Chair through playing with a piece of cardboard. That said, the chair evokes an aerospace feel. Werner, based in Hamburg, designed the chair for Ligne Roset. Launched in 2001, Swedish brand Bobbie Burns were previously a clothing company that moved to solely being a footwear one in 2004. Their A/W 2009 collections sees a number of classic shoe styles, with oxfords, chukkas and brogues. They also feature a pair of canvas derby shoes, which have been growing in popularity over the last couple of seasons. Check after the jump for more pictures.

Timberland boot company specialize in the worn-in look that’d be pretty hard to achieve if you tried it yourself. Their A/W 2009 collection adds some classic shoe styles to the collection and gives them the beaten up look TBC are known for. Bread & Butter Barcelona always plays host to a number of Selectism favourites and this year is no different. Swear previewed their A/W 2009 collection this week at the tradeshow and we’re able to show preview pictures of the collection. The style is classic Swear, although there is a move towards the slightly more rounded toe that’s becoming popular. Check after the jump for more pictures.

The Shape of the Things: Paper Traditions and Transformations explores the history of cut, folded, and molded paper, alongside contemporary artists who introduce fresh perspectives on those forms.

The exhibition is on view at San Francisco’s Museum of Craft and Folk Art. The Shape of Things remains on view until February 15, 2009.

We’ve seen a good number of collaborative bicycle efforts in the last half year. Many of these combine the creative force of fashion brands with the know how of a well respected biking firm. Acne, based in Sweden, and Bianchi are the latest to join forces. As the folks at Wallpaper* put it, “Some of the more interesting designs in urban are, perhaps not surprisingly, emerging from non-traditional sources,” a statement not completely out of line with the what many marketers hope for out of a collaboration. In any event, the bicycle will see the light of retail day in March through Acne Studios in New York and via special order at AcneStudios.com.

Celebrated retailer/line Opening Ceremony has teamed with American footwear company Bass for a line to launch next fall. Three models are included from the surprise, saddle boots, to the traditional, penny loafers. These are clearly not the Bass bucks that dressed you up in the third grade. (Via H(Y)R).
