These are my kind of trousers. The straight leg trousers from 3.1 Phillip Lim have a very relaxed look and a great military inspired army green color – though they fit and wear more like cargo pants than heavy BDU’s. England’s Rapha company looks to fill a niche with their latest project. Recognizing that more and more gentleman cycle to and from their offices – many of them in suits that are not fell fit for the cycling commute, Rapha has teamed with Savile Row tailor, Timothy Everest on a suit that is “at home both on the bike and the in the boardroom.” We should add that the entire suit is a bespoke product and will only be available through fittings.

“Because Tim is a pretty active and knowledgeable cyclist, the details for fit on and off the bike have been really well thought through- the facing buttons up for clearance when you pedal, the cuffs flip down and the collar pops and fastens up. The back has been built so it gives when you get down on the bars for fit and comfort. Both the jacket and the vest have two pockets on on the back in case you need to cary a phone, wallet, or a flask.”

Bottega Veneta has been using their woven leather forever and continues to use this trademark look of theirs, and we have to admit, we also do not get sick of it. Their ever growing clothing collection is stronger every season and after all there is a reason, why it is the fastest growing brand in the Gucci group. Thomas Maier has been doing an excellent job expanding the collection and turning a leather manufacturer into a high fashion lifestyle brand.

The footwear line has also grown and offers this season lots of sneaker styles. Here we show you their new Trainer, which comes with a black woven upper and a contrasting sole, making for an interesting summer look. They are now available at Browns.

While looking at the materials list for the Spring/Summer 2009 bag line up from Paris’ Surface to Air, I noted that the Cargo Bag (above, right) is made from 100%  phosphorescent leather. By definition, it would imply that the bag would shine under proper lights, but I wonder how many men need that much attention. Putting that aside, the bag collection is well done and constructed from a variety of leathers and nylon. The Weekender and Tape Bags (above, left) are made for gentleman who believes in his individuality.
