England’s Rapha company looks to fill a niche with their latest project. Recognizing that more and more gentleman cycle to and from their offices – many of them in suits that are not fell fit for the cycling commute, Rapha has teamed with Savile Row tailor, Timothy Everest on a suit that is “at home both on the bike and the in the boardroom.” We should add that the entire suit is a bespoke product and will only be available through fittings.
“Because Tim is a pretty active and knowledgeable cyclist, the details for fit on and off the bike have been really well thought through- the facing buttons up for clearance when you pedal, the cuffs flip down and the collar pops and fastens up. The back has been built so it gives when you get down on the bars for fit and comfort. Both the jacket and the vest have two pockets on on the back in case you need to cary a phone, wallet, or a flask.”
Currently, Mr. Everest is taking on a handful of fitting appointments for the new Rapha suit. Be sure to contact Rapha for more details.

I heard these go for 3500 USD, which is not cheap. But the suit looks amazing, not that I expected anything else from Rapha.
Please. Seriously. You must, simply MUST be kidding.
$3,500 for a suit you\’re going to cycle in?
I love Rapha gear – their basics (bibs, jerseys, socks, arm and leg warmers, t-shirts etc) are, on the whole, well made if a little over the odds price wise for the level of quality offered.
But a cycling suit for $3,500? No. That\’s not a serious proposition for any cyclist to even contemplate. I\’m sure it will be a hit with the bankers and CEOs of the world who measure worth by cost, but it\’s not a valid proposition to any who measure worth by more than the price tag.
Rapha are running the very real risk of being seen as elitist in the extreme, of putting profit before product and alienating the very core group they claim to want to nurture.
It\’s a shame really becaus silly things like this suit and THAT silk scarf degrade the real and apparent value of the rest of the brands range.
