I’m obsessed with flat wallets. Keeping my cards (not my money) to a minimum inside my pocket is key. Bulky wallets that carry more than a women’s purse is something I avoid, so when Braithwaite sent over their sheaf style “Sunrise” wallet, I was pleased to put it through the back pocket ringer. Above is a photo I took of the “Sunrise” before use. The “satchel” leather is soft and plain but with time, will patina nicely into a deeper dark shade. The  build of the “Sunrise” allows for it house cards the long way – which keeps them flat, snug, and safe beneath the magnetic closure. Throw in the Kevlar thread that sews it all together and you have a solid quality wallet option.

Baselworld 2009 is right around the corner but watch manufacturers are not holding back. As part of their Spring/Summer Collection, fellow Canadian brands Wings & Horns and Dayton Boots once again worked together.

Looks from the forthcoming Antonio Azzuolo Autumn/Winter 2009 have arrived. For the Autumn/Winter season, Mr. Azzuolo pulled from an inspiration board that features imagery of the “sober gentleman,” George Bernard Shaw, playing against “youthful, rebel and slightly eccentric Keith Richards and Mick Jagger.” What this leads to is a collection that is a study into the “duality and juxtaposition of sartorial correctness.”

The Yohji Yamamoto/Mandarina Duck line, Y’s Mandarina, showcases their Spring/Summer 2009 collection of business travel bags and luggage. Stepping away momentarily from the leathers of last Spring, the new line features canvas, neoprene, PVC, and polymide for shelling. Though, it should be noted that the “Backpack with Wheels” (above left) is made from cowhide. They just had to drop some leather, didn’t they?

A terrific oversized man satchel from Rag & Bone. More of a body bag, the Gladstone duffle style bag is made from denim and treated with leather on the trimmings. They’ve adding a coating to the denim giving it a sheen finish. “Six metal feet at base to protect the bottom leather portion from general wear and tear. The Helmut Lang by Helmut Lang Eau de Cologne is not a new fragrance. Developed in 2001, the Helmut Lang fragrance for men comes off with a woodsy scent and as recommended should be worn in the “evenings.” Of course, we love to dabble with new fragrances, but we also love the package design for the product from Marc Atlan Design Inc. – the same design house that worked on a variety of Comme Des Garcons and YSL packaging. MOMA does a pretty good job bringing international design to the US market. For example, they’ve helped push MUJI into New York. Their latest collection focuses on young, emerging Korean designers across disciplines and with a good range of goods. (Via Core 77).
