Wallpaper* has asked Tomas Maier to share a list of favorite coffee-table books. Maier is the creative director of Bottega Veneta, and has recently opened a new store in Miami’s design district. Not surprisingly, architecture, design and fashion tomes fill his shelves (ahem, cover his tables).

adidas SLVR opened the doors to it’s SOHO NYC store for a soft launch. As we previewed recently, the adidas SLVR collection for Spring/Summer 2009 “has a very modern Scandivanian feel to it. The subtle branding of the collection is a bonus and even though fashionable, the line looks very comfortable to wear.” The adidas SLVR SOHO store is located at 108 Wooster St in NYC. We never thought we’d be recommending pleated shorts here, but here we are. Acne’s shorts are the perfect length for shorts nowadays (just above the knee, in case you were wondering) and they’d fit perfectly into any ‘Take Ivy’ inspired look. Once again, we’re going to have to ask you to ignore the styling to the right, Matches always know how to make a piece look old. Get it from Matches.

Swarovski exhibited a number of collaborations at this years Maison Et Objet. The Paris based tradeshow played host to new furniture by Tord Boonjte and Scénes d’intérieur Designer 2009 winner Vincent van Duysen. As you’d expect from the collection, everything was designed utilizing Swarovski in one way or another – so prices are of the ‘if you need to ask, you can’t afford them’ variety.

Grenson and Albam seem like two brands destined for each other, so it’s only natural that they have collaborated on a range of shoes. The collection features a pair of tan leather desert boots, brown brogues and a pair of oxfords.The chukka style desert boots are available now and the rest of the collection will be available soon.

The Brit Insurance Design Awards have opened at London’s Design Museum. Included are some obvious bits – like Shepard Fairey’s Obama portrait – and a few surprises. One inclusion that really excites are the hand built wooden radios by Singgih S. Karano. Category winners are officially announced in two weeks, with the prizes handed out on March 18, 2009. Breitling celebrates the 125th anniversary of their Navitimer watch with two releases – a 125 piece limited run 18kt rose gold version and 2,009 units stainless steel edition. Both versions of the Navitimer 125th Anniversary feature a 43mm casing, dials in black, bronze, or silver, and the new Air Racer bracelet, which i truly wish I could purchase to retrofit onto my SuperOcean. Japan’s Lad Musician continues to output great menswear. As we mentioned before a select number of retailers are now carrying the line outside of the Japan, so do some hunting. Their leather boots for Spring/Summer 2009 are made from premium cow-hide and offer a full lace up silhouette. Classics.
