Gitman Brothers Vintage Spring/Summer 2009

27 February 2009, 19.22 | Posted in Fashion | No comments »

gitman brothers spring summer 2009 front Gitman Brothers Vintage Spring/Summer 2009

Gitman Brothers is one of the last remaining ready-to-wear shirt makers in the USA.  Originally called the Ashland Shirt & Pajama factory (circa 1930s), the factory was purchased by the Gitman Brothers in 1978… What sets it apart is not just the authentic styling and use of the original 1978 label, but also the actual line sheets from the early ’80s that inspired the fabrications or are actually re-fabricated themselves.  In fact a number of models for Spring/Summer 2009 are exactly what we sold 27 years ago (with only some slight modifications to fit).”

lad musician canvas boots Lad Musician Canvas Boots

Canvas shoes have been a growing trend lately but these Lad Musician boots are the first time we’ve seen canvas boots. Like all Lad Musician clothing, it’s clearly music influenced and all the better for it. They’re available in white (or ‘ivory’), black, red, navy and grey. The ivory versions are so blindingly white you can barely make them out in the picture, although that’s probably just the photography. Get them from Lad Musicians store or at an Opening Ceremony/Colette near you.

The UK iteration of GQ recently underwent a redesign and they’ve included a number of editorials to their fashion section, including a feature on American sportswear and cobalt blue. By far their best though is this weekend bag feature, showing six of the best holdalls from people like Norton & Sons, Mulberry and Bric’s. Take a look at the full article here.

We may be late the woodgrain eyeglass frame world (I’m still rocking Paul Frank), but we cannot pass up covering the Urban Spectacles collection of eyeglass frames. “Using the most eccentric and durable hardwoods as material, each pair of eyeglasses is fully customized to meet the specific desires of the individual.” The model above is made from Desert Ironwood and has been applied with a clear coat which protects the natural wood from UV rays and is “skin safe.”

creep fall winter 2009 front Creep Autumn/Winter 2009 Preview

New looks have arrived from Canada’s Creep line. As we mentioned with our Spring/Summer looks, the line made its way to Canada via Japan and looks to pull from the American workwear heritage. Looks for Autumn/Winter take this North American influence and re-fresh it for the modern man. Check the khakis with check print on the front – not to be confused with chaps.

Raf Simons for Dr. Martens Sandals Spring 2009

raf simons dr martens sandals spring 2009 Raf Simons for Dr. Martens Sandals Spring 2009

Raf Simons brings it on Gladiator style with one hell of a collection of sandals for Dr. Martens. You can only expect such design from Raf Simons. Let’s start with the 9 eyelet “Lace Sandal” which is imagined in black and white patent leather. The stitching is finished in Dr. Martens’ red thread for battle wear. The “Buckle” sandal is more toned down with patent and soft leather finish without the dissection of the lace-up. They may not be your choice sandal, but we can guarantee that someone is paying attention to the conceptual design and wearability of these looks.
