Tokyo’s CLASKA hotel has invited 14 designers from the UK to produce posters based on their experiences with the city and with Japan. The results were shown on site during an exhibition held last December. Wallpaper* has an intriguing slide show related to the event, most interest because of the detailed images of the poster making process.

We Are The Market turns us onto Burkman Brothers – two Canadian brothers who went into business together. The duo spent a few years as designers for the Gap, so the American casualwear influence is evident throughout the SS09 collection. Influence is also taken from their travels as freelance fabric designers, which led them throughout Asia. The collection itself is heavy on lightweight shirts as well as chino shorts and a couple of rain jackets. Take a look after the jump for the rest of the collection.

As is expected with Comey, All the shoes have a twist, so the oxfords and hiking boots are in canvas and all the shoes have a two tone heel. Take a look at more of the collection after the jump.

Well Read Facades

library facade promotion Well Read Facades

The good people of Kansas City chose books that represented their city. Then the spines of those books were translated into the facade of the public library’s parking lot. Without singing wild praise, this is just a good idea. A close second to Arthur Bryant’s in the stakes to be KC’s greatest place.

Thanks to Crooked Brains for the heads up, they found a similar project in the works in Wales too.

Fashionisto, thank you. As Mr. Willhelm puts it, “To see the runners and the jumpers in action on the wintery landscape of Innsbruck in 1976.  Men bearing traces of the winter olympic games, the adventure of cross country skiing, hiking on ski, stepping through the winter wonderland on a piece of wood.  At the outset there was the run…Our autumn/winter 2009/10 men’s collection is not a solely ski collection, but a striped crossbreed.”

Germany’s Airbag Craftworks (A2) has jumped into casual fashion wear but we’re still fond of their bag collection which is at the heart of this company. Two of our favorites – Offenbach and Playhouse (show above respectively) offer modern carry wear for guys looking for an individual look.

Lee Archives Denim for Europe

lee archive jeans front Lee Archives Denim for Europe

We had chance to take a good look at the Lee “Archive” Denim Collection that will be showing up in Europe this coming Fall. It’s a legacy move from the Lee Company who have finally gotten around to digging into their vaults to re-construct classic cuts from their heritage. The Archive Collection from Lee is interesting on a number of level but the standout is their desire to remain true to the original cuts. Some may find them not as modern as the re-issue of their 101 Collection (more on that later in the week), but for denim purists, you’ll be able to pick up the originals – made in Japan and washed in Japan.

More views of denim from the Lee Archives after the jump.

Louis Vuitton recently presented their Autumn/Winter 2009 Collection. The French brand continues to work with very modern cuts and silhouettes, while introducing some interesting new styles. Stand-out pieces in the new collection are for sure the soccer/hexagon monogram bag and the Kanye West designed footwear. We have always been fans of the Louis Vuitton jackets and those are once again looking good next season. We’re big fans of those oversized scarves. Get your hide on.
