
On the subject of hotels and design, it is worth pointing readers towards Alexandra Lange’s essay “Standard Operating Procedure.” In the piece, published on Design Observer, Lange discusses the newly opened Standard Hotel in New York, placing it in context of the cities mid-century modernist architecture, and tracing the global influence of the design. It’s well thought out, even if her lauding of the Standard’s achievement doesn’t agree with your sensibilities.
