The L.A. Times puts their “Style Profile” on the Lindeberg’s this week. “The Lindebergs are new to Los Angeles, though they’ve been fixtures at the Chateau Marmont whenever they’ve visited from New York. They finally moved here full time in late December as creative directors for William Rast, the L.A.-based denim line launched in 2005 by Justin Timberlake and his childhood friend Trace Ayala.”

On the subject of hotels and design, it is worth pointing readers towards Alexandra Lange’s essay “Standard Operating Procedure.” In the piece, published on Design Observer, Lange discusses the newly opened Standard Hotel in New York, placing it in context of the cities mid-century modernist architecture, and tracing the global influence of the design. It’s well thought out, even if her lauding of the Standard’s achievement doesn’t agree with your sensibilities.

Following on The Design Hotels book, Gestalten has worked to produce a series of short films. These are framed as the Made By Originals series. Each short gives a little insight into the people behind the hotels. They offer thoughts on design choices and more. Check out the films here.

GQ UK puts us onto the news that Sothebys have recreated Gianni Versace’s villa ahead of their auction of some of his goods. GQ States:

“Highlights from the Villa Fontanelle – which was sold last year – include 19th-century stucco casts of Antonio Canova’s Pair Of Pugilists estimated to be worth up to £40,000, a pair of cherry-wood bookcases by Karl Roos worth £120,000 and a previously unseen painting by 18th-century artist Johann Zoffany. The lots, numbering 550 in total, are expected to fetch in excess of £2m when they go under the hammer on 18 March.”

The Opening Ceremony for Uniqlo collection has just dropped in Uniqlo’s online store to virtually no fanfare. Compared to H&M and Topman’s recent collabs this drop has barely been mentioned by the company, who seem to be adopting a no marketing approach to this collection in the UK. The Steven Alan collection for women is also available on the site and features some nice pieces there. The O.C. collection includes a zip front cardigan, blazers, plaid shirts and a knitted vest.
