We first saw this shirt in Wood Wood’s SS09 runway show but now it’s in stores, we can give it a proper look. It looks like everyone’s got bored of checks now, as designers are increasingly using polka dot designs to give their shirts that extra edge. Design Observer guest poster Gabrielle Esperdy stirs it up with her “Less is More Again – A Manifesto.” She suggests that it is time to give design a rest, at least for a period of time. Her words might resonate with some. Or, might strike as completely off the wall. Either way, worth a gander.

FWD is reporting that Monocle Magazine has procured new digs in Los Angeles for their second storefront with two more on the way. “The Brentwood location of The Monocle Shop at 225 26th Street, Suite 19b, will feature new collaborations between the brand and designers, like the Comme des Garçons’ Hinoki candle, a unique sweatshirt from Tomorrowland, and a high-tech running kit created with John Smedley…the brand is due to open two more stores in New York City and Tokyo in 2009.” (photo via flickr)

Carin Wester’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection reminds me of Blur’s “Boys & Girls.” The drapery in the collection is almost more than what some would consider street ready. Even more so is the concern that the looks are made for the taller among us and borrow heavily from the other side of fashion. Wester’s Autumn collection follows the same lead, but could be described as a bit subdued. We present Spring/Summer here for review.  (via fashionisto)

The design is handled by Marc Newson, who has worked to create an international standard for pre-flight comfort. If the amenities don’t sooth, views over Sydney Harbor just might. (via ArchDaily).

Much nicer than the first class lounge in Dublin which only offers large amounts of stout, small packets of crisps, and black and white tv. (Just kidding, it was color).
