Jersey has one of the catwalk trends, with designers like Band of Outsiders showing people how the right cut could make jersey as wearable as denim. Chunky knitwear has been big for a minute now, so pieces like this jersey jacket were the next logical step in the knitwear evolution process. This Edifice jacket is perfect for the upcoming spring days when any other coat would seem over the top. Get it from Style Cruise.

The metallic look has been something that’s been in and out of fashion for a few years now, but Dior Homme look to take it to the next level with these Patina sheen shoes. The gold coating gives an bronzed look, making the shoe look like an aged antique rather than just another pair of shoes. While old-school brands like Church’s and Trickers will always have the designers beat when it comes to classic shoe styles, designers are always great at making shoes like these. Get them from Eluxury.

As part of the Jil Sander Spring/Summer 2009 collection comes a series of utility belts. Each belt features numerous pouches, perfect to stow away anything that you absolutely need to have with you at all time. We are not big fans of waist bags, this might be a better solution – more stylish for sure. The Jil Sander utility belts come in white and in blue in different versions.

We were turned on to the Nau outerwear collection a couple weeks ago in Las Vegas by friends who were thinking about sustainable fashions. The eco-friendly activewear line works with sustainable fabrics and re-used PVCs to shell their jackets. “In the production of our products, however, we seek out fabrics that offer superior sustainability characteristics. And, in our efforts to blend our principle ideals of beauty, performance and sustainability, our fabrics get some of the highest marks around for sustainability, when compared to just about everything else on the market today.”

Maison Martin Margiela is next in line for the treatment. “The hull is varnished carbon coated and then the White House with a broad brush to get a “Blanc de Meudon”, traces of many white, pure white, but imperfect, which is the universal signature Margiela.” Look for it in April.

Face of Our Time

faceofourtime front Face of Our Time

Face of Our Time presents the work of four artists aligned for their shared interest in making pictures about the current condition of our world. Yto Barrada looks at the transformations occurring in northern Morocco as the area becomes a tourist destination and the local culture is disrupted. Guy Tillim’s pictures, which focus on politics and community in a rapidly changing Africa, convey a palpable feeling of restlessness and intensity. Judith Joy Ross makes quiet but powerful portraits of Iraq war protesters in rural Pennsylvania. Leo Rubinfien photographs in cities that have recently experienced terrorist attacks; more than simple documentation, his pictures evoke a sense of what it is to live in an era of terrorism, shedding light on a new vulnerability we all share.

Face of Our Time runs to April 26, 2009 at SFMOMA.

A personal favorite after the jump.
