Sweden’s Velour line shows their Spring/Summer 2009 collection. The looks are seasonally proper and offer simple, wearable looks for any man. Best of all they have very good distribution so it should not be too hard to track down their looks.

Ever since trench coats came back into popularity they’ve re-established themselves as a staple. Spring usually sees a bunch of short trench coats come into stores and this season is no different. The best short trench available so far is this Martin Margiela coat. The colour is a great shade of beige (or taupe, if beige sounds too boring for you) and has a ventilated back, which will be useful when the weather perks up a little bit. Get it from Eluxury.

Canvas is looking to be a choice material this spring as the number of canvas accessories and footwear continues to rise. Grenson are the latest company to showcase their canvas footwear with these Oxford shoes. The main difference between this and, say, ASOS’s own brand versions is that these are extremely well made, offer a better quality, sturdier canvas material and are built to last. Colettte’s newsletter lets us know that our favourite men’s fashion magazine, Fantastic Man, have a new cologne out soon. A collaboration with Swedish company Byredo, the fragrance mixes a number of notes, including Incense, Lavender and Patchouli. We also get a peek at the forthcoming cover of the new issue of Fantastic Man, which has Bret Easton Ellis as it’s cover star. The fragrance will be available exclusively from Colette from March 9th.

Men.style reports with a sneek peek of the new Kiton Shop within Saks Fifth Avenue in New York City. “or obvious reasons, this might not be the best time to open up an ultra-high-end menswear store, but in fairness, Saks’ new Kiton shop-in-shop was years in the making. The 2,000-square-foot location, opening today, offers exclusive shoes, swimwear, and sunglasses, as well as those already famous $7,000 suits and $800 jeans”

Spring 2009 sees Real Real Genuine continuing to develop core strengths. This, of course, is in denim. A new cut has been introduced finding medium ground between RRG’s classic loose and straight leg. The mid-cut comes in raw and aged finish. Complementing the denim are two new trouser offerings, a selvedge twill (the Cornell) and the Kirtlington, a slim fit wool pant – work pants for the outdoors and the office. Back to the denim, new shirting selections include a selvedge denim western shirt, as well as a very sharp polo (Jasper). A few more of RRG’s excellent tees have also been added. Brilliant “Great British Denim” all round.

Possibly one of the most highly underrated pop bands in the United States, Phoenix for the better part of the last decade have been the musical darlings of Europe and Japan – especially after tracks from United featured on the Lost In Translation soundtrack. Now, a few months before the release of their next full length, Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix (coming in May), the French group has joined with Kitsune on the release of Kitsune Tabloid by Phoenix - a collection of tracks going back as far as the late 50’s that cover their musical inspirations of the moment.
