timeout Spring Fashion 2009: Trend or faux?

Hamilton Khaki X-Mach Watch

hamilton x mach watch front Hamilton Khaki X Mach Watch

The X-Mach watch from Hamilton measures mach speeds. Period. Not much else you need from a watch, right? It does so by calibrating the pressure altitude (PA) and air speed (CAS). I guess it goes more based on their description, “This transforms the timepiece into a stunning portable Machmeter. For wearers with their feet firmly on the ground, the Hamilton Khaki X-Mach watches increase the exhilaration factor with dynamic, sporty design. Aviation-inspired style elements include wing-shaped metal and carbon-fiber surrounds to protect the crowns, as well as nostalgic flying-jacket style stitching and studs on the bracelet.” Available for under 1700$US.

curated mag - MARGUERITE Bike Rack

Some of the most striking new design solutions have come via the bike rack. As cities strive to be greener, commuters work to reduce coasts and get healthier, the need for places to lock up is more pressing. The MARGUERITE bike rack takes inspiration from the sun flower. The idea is to bring nature into the urban environment. Blooming from the minds at YOANNDESIGN, with all photos from Valencia, Spain. (via Industrial Design Served).

drkshdw eastpak fall winter 2009 front DRKSHDW for Eastpack Autumn/Winter 2009

We previewed the DRKSHDW for Eastpak collection from Bread & Butter back in January. More information is now coming in on the collection. We’re told this is the first official co-brand that Rick Owens has undertaken. Mr. Owens mentions that the inspiration for the line comes from the street kids of LA with colors being pulled from the faded and worn elements of army/military wears. Look for the DRKSHDW for Eastpak collection to be dropping in select stores come September 2009.

Filson’s 20 Pocket Travel Vest is not only for the field. Hunter wore won often on and off his ranch. Now, none of us are Hunter and this vest may not work in the city too well but consider what you get for that quick jaunt up to the mountains for a trail walk. The vest itself can be worn solo but is made for zipping into you Filson shell. Made in the U.S.A. and available in green and tan.

esquivel spring 2009 footwear front Esquivel Footwear

Southern California’s Esquivel Footwear line is one of those true hand made shops. All their shoes are made to order – from materials, colors, to lacing. The majority of their business up until recently has been through private client appointments (bespoke style) but they’re now opening their business to more retailers including, as we’re told, ODIN NYC coming this summer. The Esquivel range of footwear is beautiful and worth a gander.

Outlier Empire Merino T-Shirt

24 March 2009, 17.15 | Posted in Fashion, bike | No comments »

outlier empire tee front Outlier Empire Merino T Shirt

Merino wool is a core cycling fabric. For classic cycling jersey was made of merino, and the best continue that tradition. Outlier, specializing as they do in tailored performance clothing, transfers the material to a slightly more everyday garment – the t-shirt. Their Empire Merino T-Shirt has the same glorious feel, insulating and wicking ability, and practicality of the classic jersey. As usually, they’ve made their garment in New York, with the wool sourced from New Zealand.

The T-Shirt is named for Outlier’s friends in Empire, an upcoming film about having fun on your bike. Check out the Empire Merino T-Shirt in action and a trailer for the Empire movie after the jump.
