The X-Mach watch from Hamilton measures mach speeds. Period. Not much else you need from a watch, right? It does so by calibrating the pressure altitude (PA) and air speed (CAS). I guess it goes more based on their description, “This transforms the timepiece into a stunning portable Machmeter. For wearers with their feet firmly on the ground, the Hamilton Khaki X-Mach watches increase the exhilaration factor with dynamic, sporty design. Aviation-inspired style elements include wing-shaped metal and carbon-fiber surrounds to protect the crowns, as well as nostalgic flying-jacket style stitching and studs on the bracelet.” Available for under 1700$US.

Some of the most striking new design solutions have come via the bike rack. As cities strive to be greener, commuters work to reduce coasts and get healthier, the need for places to lock up is more pressing. The MARGUERITE bike rack takes inspiration from the sun flower. Shakespeare fans will appreciate the latest limited edition t-shirt from the Paul Smith camp. “Paul Smith Jeans is pleased to announce a collection of limited edition printed t-shirts, featuring the classic Shakespearian characters of Yorick, Oberon and Mercutio…Yorick, the Court Jester from Hamlet, has been transformed into a free spirited entertainer. Yorick was the deceased court jester whose skull is exhumed by the gravedigger in Act 5, Scene 1.” Each shirt will come packed in a reusable satchel.

We previewed the DRKSHDW for Eastpak collection from Bread & Butter back in January. More information is now coming in on the collection. We’re told this is the first official co-brand that Rick Owens has undertaken. Mr. Owens mentions that the inspiration for the line comes from the street kids of LA with colors being pulled from the faded and worn elements of army/military wears. Look for the DRKSHDW for Eastpak collection to be dropping in select stores come September 2009.

Filson’s 20 Pocket Travel Vest is not only for the field. Hunter wore won often on and off his ranch. Southern California’s Esquivel Footwear line is one of those true hand made shops. All their shoes are made to order – from materials, colors, to lacing. The majority of their business up until recently has been through private client appointments (bespoke style) but they’re now opening their business to more retailers including, as we’re told, ODIN NYC coming this summer. The Esquivel range of footwear is beautiful and worth a gander.

Merino wool is a core cycling fabric. For classic cycling jersey was made of merino, and the best continue that tradition.
