Our Legacy Shirts Autumn/Winter 2009

our legacy shirting autumn 2009 01 Our Legacy Shirts Autumn/Winter 2009

In the last of Our Legacy posts, we can take a look at their shirt collection. Take note we haven’t posted the full collection of shirts, so you’ll have something to look forward to when they release their collection styled up and all that jazz. While the corduroy shirt (pictured far right) won’t be to everyone’s tastes, the collection does a good job of subverting some classic shirt styles. We’d never thought a contrast collar banker’s shirt would look wearable, but they’ve proved us wrong.

Take a leap to see the rest of the collection.

journal standard jersey cardigan 01 Journal Standard Jersey Cardigan

Time for our obligatory ‘you can’t get this without the help of someone in Japan’ post. This Journal Standard is made from what seems to be the growing material of choice, Jersey. Material aside, we also like the fact that it has a collar that isn’t shawl (we still love shawl necks by the way, but we can’t have our wardrobe overrun by it) and the contrast piping. Get it if you can from Style Cruise.

Take a look at detailed shots and different colourways after the jump.

Grenson ‘Oscar’ Suede Desert Boot

grenson suede desert boots Grenson Oscar Suede Desert Boot

We do love suede shoes, but they’re not the best shoes for erratic weather. If you get caught in the rain with a pair on, you’re likely to ruin them – as this writer has learned first hand. Despite this, we still recommend these Grenson desert boots. The shade is somewhat out of the norm (as in it’s not dark brown or navy) and will mix perfectly with any number of trouser colours. Just remember to check there’s no clouds in the sky before you rock them. Get them from Forward.

02. Villa Moda by Marcel Wanders in Bahrain

“Villa Moda in Bahrain,  is a multibrand luxury fashion store founded by Sheikh Majed, one of the driving forces behind fashion in the Middle East. For the interior design of Villa Moda, Marcel Wanders found inspiration in the traditional souk, creating a melting pot of cultures full of surprising details.” (yatzer)

03. The Ramp house / Archivirus (above)

“Athanasia Psaraki shared with us this house for a skater in Athens. Take a look at this impressive interior work.” (archdaily)

04. Happy Birthday Selfridges

“On May 1st, Selfridges, the high-end UK department store, celebrates its 100th birthday in style. Over the last century, Selfridges has remained on the edge of fashion and culture by collaborating with luminaries like John and Yoko, Salvador Dali and Vivienne Westwood.” (joshspear)

05. PSE TAC 15 Crossbow

” ‘TAC-15 ‘Tactical Assault Crossbow’, the sort of crossbow designed for when aliens invade from another dimension. It actually replaces the upper receiver from an AR-15 so you can swap between assault rifle and crossbow with a little tinkering.” #weareintrouble (likecool)

Men.style drops a nice look at the forthcoming Bernhard Wilhelm for Mykita Sunglass collection. Metal temples frame in the very bright colored lenses. They remind me of the late 90’s look. As men.style puts it, “so bright they threaten to outshine [the sun].” Bold.

The First Tycoon: The Epic Tale of Cornelius Vanderbilt

thefirsttycoon front The First Tycoon: The Epic Tale of Cornelius Vanderbilt

The First Tycoon: The Epic Tale of Cornelius Vanderbilt receives favorable review in today’s New York Times. Author T.J. Styles traces Vanderbilt’s life with “real sympathy for the old devil.” A revisionist history hitting on economics, family life, and even the occult. The makings of a riveting true life tale? Most certainly.

Buy The First Tycon from Amazon The First Tycoon: The Epic Tale of Cornelius Vanderbilt .

The NYT included a 1870 cartoon depicting Vanderbilt racing Jim Fisk of the Eerie Railroad. So wonderful, it had to be included after the jump.
