01. Mapping the Cultural Buzz: How Cool Is That?

“Apologies to residents of the Lower East Side; Williamsburg, Brooklyn; and other hipster-centric neighborhoods. You are not as cool as you think, at least according to a new study that seeks to measure what it calls ‘the geography of buzz.’” (NYT)

02. Knitted Molotov Cocktails

“Brazilian born Vítor Manuel da Cunha Bastos, who lives in Portugal at the moment, has created these knitted molotov cocktails. I recently met him at the Bless studio, where he works temporarily and very much think…” (Arkitip)

03. Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster

Crushingly good. “The Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster is Lamboghini’s latest car and is based on their Murciélago LP 640 Roadster. The Lamborghini Murciélago LP 650-4 Roadster features a unique grey paint job with orange sills, spoilers and brake calipers with black rims.” (Sybarites)

04. Neuma Hybrid Tattoo Machine

“Dissatisfied with traditional coil machines, award-winning tattoo artist and inventor Carson Hill set out to create a completely new kind of tattoo technology – the first air-powered tattoo machine.” (Core 77)

05. A Starter Guide To Urban Gardening

“So you’ve picked up a compact composting kit and are ready to start recycling your food scraps into nutrient-rich compost – the next step is to start a garden!” (Inhabitant)

London’s Oliver Spencer brings that British contemporary look to the masses with a fine Spring/Summer 2009 collection. “Oliver Spencer carries a nautical influence this summer. The collection is rife with references to the sea, and Oli has adopted the longitude and latitude of his design studio – 51.52N,0.12W – as a signature. The push-off point is traditional fabrics and garments, which Oli has relaxed and distressed.” (Fashionisto)

S.N.S. Herning Patent Zip Knit Sweater

sns herning patent zip 01 S.N.S. Herning Patent Zip Knit Sweater

This S.N.S. Herning Zip-up reminds me of the path that the 501 Levi’s took. In 1947 they original slim cut was released. So was the Herning Zip-up. Somewhere in the 60’s the 501 received an upgrade. So did the S.N.S. Herning Zip-up. Together they simply work in whatever period they’re worn. Timeless and still a proper look. The Zip-Up from S.N.S. Herning also features a “reverse knitting  zip in the neck and cuffs.” Available now from Supermarket. Oh, and Emeka approved!

More detailed views of the S.N.S. Herning Patent Zip Knit Sweater after the jump.

r29 trend traffic light colored shoes Traffic Lights Inspire Mens Shoes

R29 rounds up a grip of traffic light colored men’s footwear in their latest “Style on Tap.” I almost wish I could pull off some bright greens for a weekend – naw. “We’re all over brightly-hued footwear for spring. All you need is a little pop of red on your toes to accent a simple shirt-and-jeans look, which is why we’ve rounded up a few of our favorite stoplight-colored mens’ shoes here.”

Check out the line up at R29.

Designer Soichiro Ito’s SOE line for Spring/Summer 2009 may be modeled with a school boy in mind but the casual looks are proper for the streets. The Japanese embraced the short trouser on their men seasons ago while the trickle is only now showing up in the West. A nice line of wears.

Launched yesterday, Artbabble.org is a new online video site for art content. It was started by the Indianapolis Art Museum, who has some solid partnerships to lead and for the future. The above video (admittedly dry) gives the full run down of the intent of the site.

paul smith inspiration book Paul Smiths You Can Find Inspiration In Everything

Good news for Paul Smith fans – he’s decided to re-release his seminal book ‘You can find inspiration in everything (and if you can’t, look again)’. The book was previously only available at ridiculous prices (£200 and upwards) so it’s great to see that it’s available for a very reasonable £30. As another added bonus, the first 100 buyers will get a version that was signed by Paul Smith himself. Get it from Paul Smith’s online store.

Take a look at detailed pictures of the book after the jump.

A few new high design airline initiatives have been shown on these pages in the past. Swiss Air is another brand hedging bets on luxury air travel. This month they introduce a new First Class cabin into the fleet, with the First Class Suite by Priestman Goode Design at the center of the launch. Privacy rules, and each seat can be easily adjusted without the passenger being overwhelmed by technology. (via Yatzer).
