Penfield for Rag & Bone

06 April 2009, 20.30 | Posted in Uncategorized | No comments »

penfield rag and bone 01 Penfield for Rag & Bone

There is no lack of great Penfield collaborations – for good reason. The outerwear brand has strong heritage in producing compelling and fashion forward looks that appeal to an incredibly wide array of buyers. Like most good things, it’s preferable to team with the great rather than trying to reinvent something good. Rag & Bone for Autumn 2009 worked with Penfield on a vest jacket in two colorways. The jackets are made from “windproof melton wool” produced by the good people at Schoeller of Switzerland.  Two great looks all around for this coming Autumn.

More detailed looks at the Penfield Jacket and Vest for Rag & Bone after the jump.

wsj bernard arnault 01 WSJ. with LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault

A great read over at WSJ. with LVMH CEO, Bernard Arnault on the current state of the economy and luxury goods. “As chairman and majority owner of LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton SA, which includes high-end brands Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Tag Heuer watches, Donna Karan, Fendi and Moët & Chandon champagne, and of Dior and other companies, Bernard Arnault is required on a daily basis to balance the business needs of his sprawling empire with the exquisite good taste those brands must convey.”

Be sure to check this chart for a detailed look at Mr. Arnault’s holdings in LVMH and beyond.

Raf by Raf Simons Trouser Shorts

raf by raf simons 01 Raf by Raf Simons Trouser Shorts

One of the main reasons to show these nylon trouser shorts from Raf by Raf Simons is to show the Raf sandals for Dr. Martens in action. They look much less Spartan that I assumed they would be but we’ll revert back to the trouser shorts. Slightly more above the knee on this tall model than expected, the black shorts have a flat front trouser finish, button tab front, and back welt pockets. Enjoy from OAK NYC.

Mackintosh Autumn/Winter 2009

mackintosh autumn 2009 01 Mackintosh Autumn/Winter 2009

Now that Mac’s are officially back, we thought we should take a look at what the originator of the garment has in store for their new AW09 collection. For those who didn’t know, the Mackintosh was created by Charles Macintosh in the early 1800’s, when he created the process of spreading rubber onto cotton to create the world’s first formal waterproof fabric.

The company’s come a long way since then and although they still produce their classic colours and shapes, every once in a while they like to add some design sensibilities to the Mac, as you can see above. You can check the other design-minded mac’s after the jump.

Max & Susanne Tan Pea Coat

max susanne pea coat Max & Susanne Tan Pea Coat

Let’s face it – pea coats got tired pretty quickly last winter. A hilarious part of fashion is that people tend to say ‘why isn’t everyone wearing this?’ and then when everyone does start wearing it, those people end up scrambling for alternatives just to be different. That aside, it’s pretty much a given that you’ll have overdosed on navy pea coats by now, so we thought this tan version would make a nice alternative. And if you don’t fancy buying a full price pea coat when spring is just starting, you can always wait till the sale starts. Get it from Black Buoy.

francardo pastel cords Francardo Pastel Corduroy Jeans

Now that spring is in full swing, the pastel colours have really started to hit stores. This season we’re seeing more fully pastel outfits that are only tempered by neutral footwear. If you’re brave enough to do the full on pastel look, these Francardo cord jeans may just be the starting piece that you were looking for. The colours are suitably washed out, giving off that pale colour effect that’s so popular right now. Get them from Farfetch.

Take a look at detailed pictures after the jump.

Contributing Editor continues to kill it with online take on the traditional editorial style of copy and images. Their latest features the the band Jump into the Gospel carries some great imagery and great one liners. When ask how seriously they take fashion, the boys respond “I think I’d be most comfortable in a bear suit.” That’s honesty, folks.

CX Swiss Military 20,000 Feet Diver Watch

05 April 2009, 19.00 | Posted in Watches | 2 comments »

cx swiss military diver 20000 03 CX Swiss Military 20,000 Feet Diver Watch

This is almost insane. I suspect that at 20,000 feet under water the body would break down before this watch would. “This Swiss Military 20,000 Feet Diver watch was a dream to do just that; create a mechanical watch that can survive just that, 20,000 feet under water. Not just any mechanical watch, but a chronograph, which is harder to keep as water resistant…The whole watch is 28.5mm thick and 46mm wide. Although big, the watch is made out of titanium…” The packaging with the multi bands is perfect. (abtr)

See it to believe if after the jump.
