Saskia Diez 135g Papier Bag

saskia diez papier bag 00 Saskia Diez 135g Papier Bag

I’m pretty fascinated with Tyvek. Here’s a story. Back in the day when I was younger, I used to go to the US Post Office and pick up those free Tyvek Priority mailers, cut them down to “Letter” size, and use them to print VIP bracelets to get me into niteclubs, concert events – whatever I needed. Tyvek is just everywhere.

Now Saskia Diez takes the indestructible material and forms it into a 135gram “Papier” bag. “A silk-screen printing technique gives the material a particularly attractive look. A totally different aspect of the series is also remarkable: Classic traveling bags are for the most part made of leather; the use of paper here represents a shift in typology, which reflects a new definition of the traditional idea of luxury. The bags are labelled with a sterling silver flake with an engraved diamond. Tyvek® is 100% recyclable.” (coutequecoute)

Japan’s Man of Moods drops a one button jacket with some randomness in the form of stripes. Look closely at the photos and you’ll note “random” contrasting horizontal stripes running across the garment. “The stripe continues along the waist line, shoulders, and arms. Also see the light weight fabric as it creases along the elbow.” A unique finish on a casual sports jacket. (atsui)

Shopping in Paris: French Fashion 1850-1925

shopping paris pma front Shopping in Paris: French Fashion 1850 1925

An exploration of the American experience abroad, Shopping in Paris describes how the city of love influenced and inspired American dress from 1850-1925. The luxury of Lanvin is paired with American product of the period, pulling strings at a tale of chasing the latest foreign trends and keeping up appearances. Sure, the focus is on women, but that shouldn’t stop it being an educational fashion experience for blokes.

The exhibition is up in the Perelman Building at the Philadelphia Museum of Art to October.

peter saville live stream LIVE Now | Peter Savilles Erotic House of Pop

SHOWstudio is streaming LIVE from a very interesting photoshoot this afternoon. “As backdrop to an editorial story for July 2009 Wallpaper* magazine, Peter Saville’s febrile imagination constructs an imaginary ‘Erotic House’ of Pop perversity, sexualising an entire post-modern environment and fetishising furniture, fashion and flesh alike.”

The live feed gives those interested a live view of the studio experience. This is a rare and instant glimpse into a production photoshoot.

Arne & Carlos’s SS09 collection is just dropping in stores now and this Fair Isle cardigan is the pick of the bunch. We’re fans of the sparse using of the Fair Isle patterns, as this will make it a much more suitable wear for this season. We can leave the complicated knits to winter when we can layer up. Get this from Farfetch.

Take a look at detailed pictures after the jump.
