You could have the Victorinox version of this penknife for a few bucks less, but why not carry a bit of Westwood with you. It’s finished in green imitation rhodium, features nailfile, scissors, tweezers, toothpick, keyring, and a Vivienne Westwood orb charm and retails for – get ready – 424$US. #woah

Soulland Dot Jorgenson Popover Jacket

A very eye popping pull over from one of my favorite labels (who we really do not give much love to on Selectism) Soulland. A great fitted jacket which takes the popular polka dot finish onto a longer form. “black and white dot patterned pullover with covered henley snap placket and six snap flap patch pockets at front. drawstrings at middle and waist. curved deep pleat at back of shoulders.” (oaknyc)

01. madsen; bicycle “+”

“The cycle industry seems to only be getting stronger – I love practical re-makes. Made in SLC Utah, these bikes can haul about 600 lbs! Available in dramatic black, yummy cream and sweet baby blue – in either bucket ($1,300) or rack ($1,100) style. Hit hard by the recession?” (bf)

02. They Call It Acid – The Story of Acid House Culture

“As well as being a universal story, THEY CALL IT ACID is a gripping subject which will appeal to a wide ranging audience – from the youth of today, who have grown up surrounded by Dance Music culture, to the nostalgic 40-somethings who spent their youth Raving.” #rave (tcia)

03. Mac Motorcycles Enters The Fray With Four Custom Bike Concepts (above)

“There are four separate designs from Mac Motorcycles, all based on the air-cooled 500cc single-cylinder engine from the Buell Blast. We’re a little behind the times when it comes to current British slang, so we’ll let the company describe its own bikes…” (autoblog)

04. Zero.1 CD/LP Player

“The Zero.1 a is CD player that also plays vinyl records. It features programmable memory for vinyl, letting you play tracks from a record with a remote control, like you would with a CD.” (notcot)

Selectism Columnist, Chris Bray, makes note of a new design competition teaming Desigboom with Hermès. How about this opportunity for all those designers out there? “You are asked to develop a new pattern that could be either a re-interpretation of the Hermes classic patterns (equestrian -, sport -, marine theme, whimsical animal motifs, geometric variations including stripes, plant and flower designs and the H delicately imprinted across the surface of the tie) or something completely different, that could be used for the silk-screen printing – or weaving technique.”

When a watchmaker produces watches for expeditions we tend to pay attention. Take this IWC Ingenieur Automatic Mission Earth Watch developed for “David de Rothschild and his crew during the four-month Plastiki expedition across the Pacific Ocean.” The blue and orange colors, which are signatures of the Plastiki expedition, are bold enough to rock all Summer long. You’ll find this 46mm automatic in an edition of 1,000. IWC rocks. (timezone)
