gq uk fragrance feature summer 2009 Summer Scents on GQ UK

GQ UK runs a quick feature on the choice scents for Summer 2009. Though the feature tends to stick to the big guns on men’s fragrances – Hugo Boss, DKNY, Armani, Burberry – the feature is a starting point for a dip into seasonal fragrance market. Worth a read.

The headquarters of Grey Goose (located in Brussels) has a new bar. Designed by Puresang, the space features an extended bar which dips and rises as a conference table on one side. A faceted wall of blue triangular glass tiles keeps the brand identity well located in the interior. (via Dezeen).

Acne Boots for Autumn/Winter 2009

acne boots fall winter 2009 05 Acne Boots for Autumn/Winter 2009

On the “heels” of our Acne shoe preview yesterday, we bring you some boots to look over this morning. The gum sole on the “Trance” models seem a bit bottom heavy for my tastes. The “Rocky” on the other hand brings a modern twist to the classic workbook. Again, the green finish is my favorite of the group.

Many more looks at the Acnes Boots for Autumn/Winter 2009 after the jump.

Ally Capellino Autumn/Winter 2009 Preview

ally capellino autumn 2009 preview 01 Ally Capellino Autumn/Winter 2009 Preview

Sometimes a phrase just feels right. A reader called S.N.S Herning’s AW09 collection a ‘powerful sweater armada’ yesterday and we feel that’s the perfect description for when a label brings an amazing collection based around one item. It’s also the perfect phrase to describe Ally Capellino’s AW09 collection, which we’re previewing today. The collection continues on in the classic Capellino way – waxed cotton, classic bags, quintessentally British – that sort of thing.

Take a look after the jump to see more preview images and a pretty scared looking model.

Kitsuné Autumn/Winter 2009

kitsune noir autumn 2009 01 Kitsuné Autumn/Winter 2009

You may have seen preview shots of Kitsuné’s AW09 collection elsewhere, but we can exclusively show the full collection for you here. As has been said elsewhere, Kitsune’s collection is a collection of sexy preppy pieces, ranging from varsity jackets and hooded tops to cardigans and corduroy suits. We’ve also thrown in pictures of the womens collection, purely because we thought the clothes looked good – not because we fancied the model or anything.

Take a look at the collection after the jump.

From Demon to Darling

demontodarling book front From Demon to Darling

In From Demon to Darling: The Legal History of Wine In America, lawyer and wine maker Richard Mendelson offers an accessible introduction to American wine law. Why is this interesting? Because American policy toward wine (and alcohol) has alternatively made the beverage a source of evil or a celebration of cultural achievement. The duality is certainly worth review, and Mendelson’s approach makes for a unique take on food ways history. Out from University of California Press.

B-Store Canvas Oxford Shoes

b store canvas oxford shoe B Store Canvas Oxford Shoes

As much as I love B-Store, they need to sort out their shoe size problem. They tend to have their ugliest styles (I’m talking to you, Mario 31) in a size 12 while their best ones only go to 11. Personal beefs aside, these are some great looking white shoes with a contrast sole. We’re seeing a high amount of white shoes this season and for the most part, designers have managed to make them to wearable. Get these from ASOS.
