Our friends at Fashionisto get their hands on the H&M Men’s Collection for Autumn 2009. In their words, “anything but surprising, H&M’s fall collection is impressive. The season stuns with a combination of stern edginess and refined chic. Coats are dark and militaristic in nature, while the sporadic appearance of florals and loose weave knits counter with softness.”

Denim works in specific situations and rarely does it work simply as a satchel. But, with the proper details denim can shine as it does with this Lanvin Briefcase. “Handles sit on either side of the zip fastening with a luggage tag. A zip pocket sits on the lining. Horizontal stitching details.” The grey blue denim shade makes this proper, but proper doesn’t come cheap. 580£ (browns)

Acne drops a serious array of shoes, boots, and sneakers as part of the Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. It’s so big that we’ll preview only the shoes at the moment to keep it as fresh as we can. NYT’s David Colman writes an interesting piece this morning on a move back to the conservative suitings in an economy that tries to give itself balance. Rather than looking like bankers, men in the city want to look more like “creative professionals.” “In a reversal of every recession in the last 100 years, figures show that men have not cut back on buying clothes as much as women have. They’re not buying power suits — they’re replacing them.”

Abe and Tyler of Outlier are on a constant search for fabrics that meet their needs in tailored performance. They recently found a stash of surplus tropical wool suiting material – and soon discovered it worked perfectly for a summer weight cycling cap. There previous foray into wool caps was a winter weight merino offering, fully waterproof, and produced by milliner Victor Osborne. Osborne again is charged with producing this hat, which despite the lighter weight retains the performance qualities of the merino version. Several sound colors choices are there, as well as a selection of weight.

Some interesting watches were seen on the Burberry Prorsum Runways during their Spring 2009 shows. The watches featured military inspired dials with a multistrap that wrapped around the wrist. The Swiss made watches for Burberry are now available on the UK market. Available in antique palladium or gold finish with leather strapping, the two wristwatches are priced around 325-395£ respectively.

Selectism favourite, S.N.S Herning have built a reputation for knitwear that pushes boundaries without veering into the avant-garde. Their Autumn/Winter 2009 collection continues their previous works with continuations of several styles, as well as new additions such as the ’start’ cardigan (pictured above). As far as stockists go, expect Tres Bien to stock the deepest range, although we will be updating the stockists as we find out more.
