The Spring/Summer 2009 from Australia’s Saint Augustine Academy is themed “Do you Believe Her.” The collection, which falls on the opposing side of the globe, stays in trend with fitted skinny jeans, draped shirts, and classic wear that pulls influence from the the man looking to be a touch more dapper in twisted way.

Last weekend, the LA Modernism Show and Sale hit the Santa Monica Civic Auditorium. As one of the larger modernism shows (some 70 vendors from the US and Europe) a few gems are bound to turn up. The folks from Dwell went through and picked a few favorites for a pretty educational slide show. We snipped a few off from their pictures to share here, but that doesn’t mean a quick visit to view their coverage isn’t worth it.

Assouline has taken residence inside of Sotheby’s New York City headquarters at York Avenue and 72nd.  The luxury publisher known for its books and gift items dedicated to fashion, photography, art and design. “The shop, with an approximate square footage of 90 feet, is located in the public street-level lobby area of Sotheby’s, and include Assouline’s unique and elegant publications as well as an exclusive line of gift items.  The revolving selection of products will tie-in to the auction calendar and reflect current cultural interests.”

Fred Friendly (1915-1998) was the single most important personality in news and public affairs programming during the first four decades of American television. Portrayed by George Clooney in the film Good Night and Good Luck, Friendly, together with Edward R. Murrow, invented the television documentary format and subsequently oversaw the birth of public television. Juggling the roles of producer, policy maker, and teacher, Friendly had an unprecedented impact on the development of CBS in its heyday, wielded extensive influence at the Ford Foundation under the presidency of McGeorge Bundy, and trained a generation of journalists at Columbia University during a tumultuous period of student revolt.

Everyone knows CDG wallets are great but they’re reaching ubiquity within fashionable circles. A nice alternative that’s within the realm of affordability (assuming you can afford a Comme wallet) is this Martin Margiela piece. There’s no zippery involved but it’s still far better bound than usual wallets due to the rope enclosure. Although it’s listed as light grey on Matches, it looks more of a cream colour to us. Avoid the predictability of a CDG wallet and get this from Matches.

Suede boat shoes are always a tough thing to recommend, simply because it doesn’t take much to ruin them. But when they’re as good looking as these, we can’t help but put them up here. You don’t see white suede out much, but the texture of the fabric means that they’ll be far better summer shoes than blinding white trainers. Get these from Forward.

Uniqlo launch their Gilded Age collaboration in stores today, continuing the low key approach the company have taken. We were big fans of the Opening Ceremony collection, although the sizing meant that it was neccessary to size up one – meaning that if you were a large you were out of luck. This time they’ve included an XL in the sizing, so if the sizing problem persists at least you can just apply the general maxim of go one size down.

Highlights of the collection are the washed cotton blazer (pictured above) which is available in sand, cream and navy blue. Other pieces include pinstripe oxfords, chinos, shorts, bomber jackets and henley neck t-shirts.
