Ann Sofie-Back becomes Creative Director of Cheap Monday

sofie back cheap monday Ann Sofie Back becomes Creative Director of Cheap Monday

The high street/high fashion collaborations continue as Ann Sofie-Back becomes the creative director of Cheap Monday. The appointment coincides with the Swedish designers return to Stockholm after more than a decade in London. She’ll be responsible for everything apart from the denim, which will remain under the guise of the original owner (and hopefully include a few more forgiving cuts for those who’ve dared do any form of physical exercise in the last ten years). Her first full collection for Cheap Monday will be the Spring/Summer 2011 collection, although she contribute towards the SS10 and AW10 collections. She’ll continue to show at London fashion week and her lines will carry on as normal.

Barbour Waxed Cotton Explorer Bag

Any London based readers will surely have noticed a massive jump in Barbour jacket wearers lately. There’s nothing wrong with that,it’s just a little off putting. If you’re tired of the jackets already, you can get into Barbour in different ways -  such as this Waxed Cotton explorer bag. Our love of waxed cotton is well noted here and we’re even bigger fans of Barbour’s affordable pricing. At just £127, this bag would provide years of use – and the material would ensure that it looked better than the day you first bought it. Get it from Barbour.

Ivory Court Grey Blazer

We had an interesting comment the other day from someone in the Phillipines who complained that most of what we featured wasn’t available in his neck of the woods – an intriguing thought given the amount of emails we get about why we feature labels that are only available in the Eastern hemisphere.

If you’re still in the market for a good, lightweight crumpled blazer (and there isn’t as much choice as we thought they’d be) then this should your go-to choice. Despite the popularity of blazers, most ones on the market right now either have poor cut or a bad choice of fabrics. Given that most guys tend to avoid tailors (although they can perform wonders with your wardrobe) the perfect fit and fabric is needed off the rack which, to be fair, isn’t too much to ask for. Get it if you can from Style Cruise.

Take a look after the jump for further pictures.

Selectism | Around the Web

recycling typography Selectism | Around the Web

01. Here & There – A Horizonless Map of New York

“Here & There is a project by S&W exploring speculative projections of dense cities. These maps of Manhattan look uptown from 3rd and 7th, and downtown from 3rd and 35th.” (+kn)

02. Audemars Gets Its Kicks On Route 27

“Though that summer share in the Hamptons might be coming at a discount this year, Audemars Piguet’s new limited-edition timepiece, dubbed the Montauk Highway, isn’t. At $20,300, the Swiss brand’s latest addition to its Royal Oak Offshore line is unapologetically deluxe and anything but retiring: In eye-catching aqua, white, and brown, the chronometer demands attention.” (men.style)

03. Recycling Typography (above)

“Companies move, update their logos and cease to exist, their fascia signs are taken down and demolished. Why? Character takes the dismantled signs, which have been part of the cityscape for years, even decades, and gives them a new life…” (yatzer)

04. Thom Browne’s CEO and CFO Have Left, But He’s Doing Great. Really.

“On Friday, WWD rained on our happy-hour planning with the abrupt announcement that Thom Browne’s CEO and CFO had left the label. CEO Tom Becker and CFO Thomas Cunningham decided to leave on their own, according to Browne’s spokeswoman Miki Higasa…” (nymag)

05. Docks de Paris / Jakob + MacFarlane

“The Docks de Paris project by Paris based architecture studio Jakob + MacFarlane is nearing completion. The building was first designed in 2004 for a competition held by the city of Paris. Jakob + MacFarlane’s entry eventually won the competition and has been underway since 2007.” (archdaily)

I’ve been waiting for this. I love camo but at times the BDU is simply not fitted well for day wear (though when cut, they work as shorts). Our Legacy comes through with a pair of fitted chinos with a classic camo (is it DPM) pattern. Get them now from Tres Bien.
