Ask a museum professional what there favorite museum is, and chances are you might here the same answer time and time again. The Pitt Rivers. A gem of anthropological wonders in Oxford, the Pitt Rivers gives visitors the chance to discover items through a vast maze of objects. It is simply glorious.

Just recently, the museum underwent an overhaul. The result, an even more Victorian space. Excellent idea really, to pull tradition back into the scope of the experience.

A beautiful nylon tote bag is coming this season from Prada. The mix of nylon, suede bottom and brown leather details works really well, keeping the bag classic, yet not boring. Once again Chanel has released a new film to promote their famous No. 5 fragrance. After Nicole Kidman was the star in the last campaign, Audrey Tautou plays the leading role in the new commercial. In our mind she is a perfect fit and translates the French luxury brand’s core principals accordingly. The film officially released today on a dedicated website. You can watch it fullscreen in high definition and it’s well worth it!

Given out penchant for food and food history, Susanne Freidberg’s new book Fresh: A Perishable History capture some of our attention. Freidberg, an associate professor at Dartmouth, looks at six common foods to discover how notions of freshness have changed over time. Fruit sales, she finds, privileged beauty over taste from quite an early date. Milk and fish are also treated.

Another day, another Hackett piece. Hackett haters will be glad to know that we won’t be featuring them every day this week, just most of the week. It’s almost cliche to reference Mad Men when talking about clothes these days, but this set does have more than a hint of Don Draper about them. We’re not usually advocates of the complete retro look – it is the year 2009 after all – but we heartily approve of these pyjamas.

We’ll be featuring Hackett’s knitwear, accessories and bag collections later on this week, so keep an eye out for those.

We’ve been featuring a lot of jersey lately and those who haven’t converted to the softer side of life might be wondering why. The fine folks at Refinery 29 turn us onto Hyden Yoo’s Autumn/Winter 2009 collection, which is looks to continue the labels focus on wardrobe staples. At first look, this collection isn’t one that’ll set your world on fire, although it’s a long way from dull. Pieces like the outerwear look to have great detailing, such as contrasting buttons and the sweaters look like they’ll be pieces you’ll wear for years to come.

Duckie Brown is previewing some of their Autumn 2009 collection with a look at some accessories and trenches and we must say they’re bringing the heat for the coming season.
