As readers may have noticed, we’re fans of Martyn Bal here. We’ve featured his collections, interviewed him and now we can show you his AW09 footwear collection. Like Martyn Bal’s mainline collection, the focus is on classic shapes with a well designed quirk to set it apart. Aside from the footwear featured above, our favourite pair are a timberland-esque fringed boot with a pointy toe, which sounds terrible but look amazing.

In some respects PRPS are a lot like Church’s. Like Church’s they’re well known within their respective communities and like Church’s they’re known for their purist’s approach to their products. We caught up with PRPS founder Donwan Harrell and quizzed him about the background of the company, his prior roles and how he discovered his love for denim.

There isn’t really a wallet style that hasn’t been around for eons, but card holders seem to be seeing a renaissance at the moment. The main plus of card holders is that they can easily slot into a trouser pocket for those hot days when you don’t need a jacket. They’re also a bit more affordable than wallets so you don’t have to go broke to get one – which is always nice. The one pictured is from Jack Spade and it’s dope. Get it from Oak.

Our friends at Valet have a feature on man’s favorite of facial weapons – the razor. “The average American male will shave his face more than 14,000 times in his life…But shaving needn’t be drudgery. Another selection of bowties for those dudes into them. This time, we focus in on COTO’s collection of English silk, woven in New York City wears. Choose from a variety of looks as shown above wrapped around my least favorite of espresso beans. I’ll let it go this time.

TUMI Alpha Collection gets militant for Autumn 2009 with two pieces of luggage that extend the brand to those walking the “urban battlefield.”  As they put it, “The digital camouflage print is applied to ballistic nylon creating the ultimate statement in utilitarian style… With the intent to disguise or blend with the natural surroundings, this camouflage print instead will attract some attention and be easily identifiable among the sea of black bags.” We happen to love digital camo when done properly. Here’s a great pair of “Made in the USA” short from the people at Utility Canvas. “Knee length shorts from Utility Canvas with horizontal stripes of varying widths & colors. Adjustable drawcord waist, 2 front pockets & 2 pockets at back.” The casualness of these shorts and their heavy duty finish makes them appealing for the sportier of weekends. Think bocce. (chcm)

OPENERS gives a nice preview of the ETRO Summer 2009 Resort Collection. ETRO takes aim for the “casual” market with their Italian made goods. Sandals, sneakers, and bags round up the collection. Sneaker styles follow the traditional Euro slip stream shapes which are favored by many and are often seen are simply staying on point with the consumer not looking to experiment. We happen to love the messenger bag, with its orange leather finish.
