Koyuk Hemp Shoes

koyuk hemp shoes 00 Koyuk Hemp Shoes

Hemp is one of the most sustainable plants around. It’s a weed that grows faster than most and is incrediblly diverse in use – from paper, to textiles, and beyond. Koyuk delivers their variant of the hemp shoe. The two lace upper is planted onto their version of a deck shoe last. It comes in a wide array of colors and should break it nicely with your walking habits. (zozo)

brazil stadium front Brazils 2014 World Cup Stadiums

Being as we love footie so much, the idea of leaping ahead to 2014 with the draw for the 2010 World Cup still in the balance does not seem overly ridiculous. Brazil play host, and thanks to ArchDaily some looks into the sites are now available. Monuments to the beautiful game ranging from the architecturally exciting to the just plain useful. Headed to place bets of Theo Walcott scoring the first goal for England in that tournament now.

More stadiums from Brazil after the jump.

B Store Autumn/Winter 2009 Shoes

b store autumn 2009 shoes 07 B Store Autumn/Winter 2009 Shoes

Here’s the second half of B-Store’s mammoth AW09 footwear collection. The collection excels in what B-Store do best, which is add a touch of fashion forward modernity to traditional shapes. So we’re see brogue uppers with Dr Martens-esque soles, design touches usually seen in boots and loafers galore.

Material-wise, there’s the use of suede and leather, which has been a recurring theme in several AW09 collections. It’s not ground-breaking, but when it’s done well – and it’s done extremely well in the shoe pictured above – it always results in a great shoe.

Take a look at the shoe armada after the leap.

The Ride Journal

the ride 01 The Ride Journal

Cycling is an offical Selectism pastime, so when we caught wind of cycling magazine The Ride, which combined cycling with great photography and clean design, we had to check it out. Created by brothers Philip Diprose and Andrew Diprose, The Ride is a UK based magazine that aims to give a much more open look into the world of cycling rather than a rigid look into any one aspect of it.

The independently produced magazine was created with the aim of creating a journal of personal stories (hence why it’s called journal instead of a magazine) and they’ve collected the stories of several seminal figures, including the likes of Paul Smith. The articles are all told from a first person perspective, usually being written by the people who are deeply involved in the movement.

The first issue is available for download on their site, but we’d recommend buying it as you just can’t beat physical copy – especially when it’s as well made as this.

Take a look at some spreads from the magazine after the jump.

edifice materiaux trench coat 01 Edifice Materiaux Trench Coat

As part of our ongoing efforts to provide you with pieces you can’t hold of, we’ve decided to show you this trench coat from Edifice Materiaux. As you may have guessed from the name, Edifice Materiaux is an offshoot of Selectism favourite Edifice and judging from this piece, they’ll soon be regulars on here as well. The trench itself is a summer weight piece, designed more for layering and rain protection than keeping you warm. (Style Cruise)

Check out detailed shots after the jump.

san marino bike film festival Selectism | Around the Web

01. BauBike by Michael Ubbesen Jakobsen

“The BauBike is inspired by Bauhaus design. It is constructed around the geometric shape of the square and the equilateral triangle. The design is stripped down to clean lines and raw material. The open-end piece above the back wheel, offers the possibility to customize the function of the bike to whatever need you may have. The different accessories can be placed in the tube and can easily be changed if needed.” (yatzer)

02. San Marco Limited Edition Bike Saddles

“You’ve likely heard plenty about the ninth annual Bicycle Film Festival as of late, but here’s some interesting news: San Marco, an Italian manufacturer, has launched a collection of exclusive, limited edition bike saddles to honor five of the countries involved in the festival. The ‘Concor Supercorsa’ are made of nabuk—an artificial alternative to nubuck—and come in blue for New York, black for London, green for Milan, yellow for Paris, and red for Tokyo.” (deftouch)

03. MIT Developing Concrete That Lasts for 16,000 Years

“Civil engineers at MIT are currently developing a new breed of concrete that will be able to last for 16,000 years. Concrete is one of the most frequently used and widely produced man-made building material on earth, with over 20 billion tons produced per year globally.” (inhabitant)

04. Beyond Media 2009: Visions

“The ninth edition of BEYOND MEDIA, international festival for architecture and media, will open at the Stazione Leopolda in Florence, Italy. A rich program of videos, exhibitions, and a symposium -in which the protagonist of the international debate will participate- will offer to the public, until July 17, a plurality of overviews on architecture and on its ever more intense relations with the media.” (archdaily)

05. Bad Brains x Jones Rootz Beer

“Just in time for the summer, PunkRadioCast has teamed up with 5 of their favorite bands to bring you a special edition six pack featuring artwork from Bad Brains…” (jones)

hbyharris fall 2009 collection 00 H by Harris Autumn/Winter 2009

Take your average piece of luggage add some British style, mix it with understated luxury and you get H by Harris. The brand was created by stylist Elliott Harris out of a need for a stylish yet practical laptop case. Harris has worked with such big name clients as Mark Ronson, Nike, and French Collection. H by Harris’s debut collection consists of two separate collections, the new Q collection is based around hand quilted Nappa Leather, while the SH collection is a waxed hide leather base. A great deal of inspiration comes from vintagemilitary bags. Check out the “H jacket”, which has a detachable rucksack zippered to the back. It’s “a new approach to camoflage.” -cw

Russell Moccasin Munson’s Last Moc Chukka Boots

russell moc chukka boots 00 Russell Moccasin Munsons Last Moc Chukka Boots

We cover a staggering amount of chukkas but that’s how the trend rolls right now. I guess we’ll keep covering them as long as the factories keep kicking out great looks for the masses to choose from. The latest from the Nepenthes online site in the form of this killer colorway from Russell Moccasin. “Dirty beige” as the writer next to me describes it. Be sure to check the photos after the jump for more colorways. This pair alone, gets my choice chukka award (if that was to exist).
