Our friends at Valet spends some time with Ilaria Urbinati of Confederacy LA on the new Florsheim for Duckie Brown collection. ” ‘The whole point of a collaboration is to do something different and show a new take on a classic,’ says Ilaria Urbinati, the stylist and co-owner of LA’s Confederacy, who scored a two-month exclusive on the line. The collection includes revamped styles like Florsheim’s signature Riza loafer but Urbinati’s torn on a favorite. ‘It’s between the brogue boot, which looks like something Oliver Twist would wear and kick your ass in,’ she laughs.”

kolor autumn 2009 01 Kolor Autumn/Winter 2009

Kolor have been flying under the radar for a few years now and we’re proud to be the first online site  to show you their Autumn/Winter 2009 Collection. Founded in 2004, Kolor is the work of designer Junichi Abe, who had previously worked for the likes of Comme Des Garcons before going independent. The brand is already popular in Japan, ranking at number one in a list of domestic designers by Japanese fashion industry newspaper, The Senken.

They avoid themed collections, aiming instead for a ’sophisticated comfort’. According to Kolor, perfect clothing is the mix of three elements: “the texture of materials, their unique cutting and designated specifications of sewing”.

While still a relatively small brand, they’ve got big plans ahead, with a flagship store opeing Omotesando area of Tokyo and a website launch both planned for late July. Stockists include the likes Browns and the Library in the UK, L’eclaireur in Paris and Opening Ceremony in USA.

Take a look at the collection after the leap.

rago 20thcentury front Rago Early 20 Century Auction

Rago hosts their Early 20th-Century Auction on Saturday June 13, 2009. Among the lots are a huge number of art pottery offerings and many fine pieces of Stickley Furniture. The most intriguing item on the block is Joseph Heinrich’s smoking set. Signed Shreve Crump & Low Co. Copper and Silver, the set is made of big horn sheep horns, copper, and steel bands. The first we’ve seen like it, and also the first Rago has sold. A very unique piece. View the entire catalog and learn more at Rago.

Opening Ceremony Shoulder Zip Sweater

opening ceremony zip crewneck Opening Ceremony Shoulder Zip Sweater

We’ve featured an OC sweater before, but we thought we should bring this one to your attention. What we like about this piece is that it’s got a hint of the nautical trend, but not so much that we look like off duty sailors. The oat colour is a nice break from the navy blues that are more prevalent now and the shoulder zip is nice touch. A useless one, but nice nonetheless. Did we mention it’s half price? Get it from Opening Ceremony’s store.

Check detailed shots after the hop, skip and jump.
