Let’s take our watch game back a bit to a time when travel alarm clocks were a staple in travel accessories. “From the 1930s, here is a travel alarm clock from Jaeger Lecoultre. If that wasn’t enough, this pop-up alarm clock was sold and signed by a small French retailer that goes by the name of Hermes.  This item has the destinct honor of being called by two terms that we adore “vintage Jaeger Lecoultre” and “vintage Hermes”.  So, so good.” Those were the days. For The Art of Opening, the Wood Turning Center has collaborated with Wheaton Village to produce a display of unique wine openers and stoppers which inspire their connected glass work. Following the mission of the Wood Turning Center, this exhibition again works to push the boundaries of American and International craft. On view until July 18, 2009.

Our Berlin office received word on a new pair of shoes by Vibskov for his Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. There is a great deal going on with this shoe from the suede’s to the leather fringe on the toe box. We can only imagine what these will be styled against in the future.

Cycling nerds, the new Rapha Condor Team Cap is a modern take on the classic biretta cap of days past as well as the cap worn by Britain’s ”number one-ranked team.” The cap is made in Italy and is super light and comfortable for a long ride. “It is also extremely breathable and is finished with a moisture-wicking anti-bacterial tape and a thick elastic fastener.”

Alden Unlined Chukka Boot

I need to get my hands on this unlined chukka boots from Alden. The ability to rock them in the summer without socks is about as good as it gets for me. Slip them on and off as you need. “This shoe was built on the Leydon last with a single flexible oiled leather out-sole. This shoe is fully leather lined and can be worn easily with no socks. And it can be resoled by Alden over and over and over again.” My summer favorite. (blackbird)

We gave you a sneak peek at Whyred’s AW09 collection back in January, but now we can give you a better look at the full collection. The collection, titled ‘Mr & Mrs’, comprises of nylon trench coats, ankle length trousers (which we’re not sure about in winter) and a blazer armada. In fact, if you’ve been looking for a blazer, be it slim or boxy, single or double breasted, short or long – this is the collection for you.

Take a look at the rest of the collection after the hop and skip.

Ally Capellino Briefcase

You might have spotted that we’re quite the fans of Ally Capellino. We’ve raved about the satchels and holdalls, but her briefcases aren’t to be sniffed at either. This bag has something about it, a sort of relaxed smartness that makes it suitable for those days when you’re just carrying a couple of magazines around and want to look relatively urbane whilst doing it. It’s not cheap – but you could just wait till sale season if you’re saving up your pennies. Get it from Farfetch.

Detailed looks after the hop and skip (we won’t stop saying this until it replaces ‘the jump’ as common phrasing)
