Hint | Paris Men’s Week: Adam Kimmel

adam kimmel Hint | Paris Mens Week: Adam Kimmel

Hint Mag gives a quick write-up on the Adam Kimmel and his “Western” collection. “ Kimmel has just finished one of his big dreams, a cowboy collection inspired by Roy Rogers and the Marlboro Man. Kimmel worked with Jim Krantz, the Marlboro campaign’s original photographer, on the look book, featuring real-live modern cowboys, and video artist Meredith Danluck shot the making-of on the original Marlboro ranch with bull-riding champion Rocky McDonald.”

patrick ervell fall winter 2009 00 Patrick Ervell Autumn/Winter 2009

There are still a good deal of collections coming at the tail end of the year to cover. Patrick Ervell is one of those collection which we examine based on Tim Blank’s thoughts of the line. “Despite a definite emphasis on outerwear—a little sky-blue shearling layered over denim, a hybrid peacoat—there was a fragility to his clothes that was almost feminine in the conventional sense.” Ervell makes his own claim, “men’s clothes that masculine women wear.” We’ll let you be the judge.

Bell & Ross Commando Collection Watches

br commando series watches 00 Bell & Ross Commando Collection Watches

With an almost endless array of color options for their BR series, Bell & Ross issued their Commando Collection recently. It may be the first Bell & Ross I consider for purchase. The grey carbon finish on the BR-01-96 and BR-01-07 matches well against a commando swat black attack uniform, as well as just about any other color. Neutral grey is it. You get the usual BR goodness from these models as well – 46mm casing, rubber straps, and a genuinely unique look to bear. (timezone)

Here’s a banger from Neil Barrett’s Spring/Summer 09 footwear collection (which we covered a while back). This dove grey leather baseball high-top is finished in suede leather with patent leather accents and sole. The lacelocks pull from the outdoor boot with clip in fasteners. They’re made in Italy and are one of my favorite high-tops of the season. Well done. (forward)

Joe Earle’s Buriki Buriki: Japanese Tin Toys From the Golden Age of the American Automobile is a comprehensive tour of The Toku Tanaka Collection of toys. After WWII, when international trade for Japan resumed, talented toy makers took American cars as inspiration for a fruitful new line of product. The book chronicles all the cars and vehicles made in Japan. A great snap shot of an industry and a period of both American and Japanese ingenuity.

Out from Yale University Press.

A.P.C Autumn/Winter 2009 Duffle Bag

apc autumn 2009 duffel 01 A.P.C Autumn/Winter 2009 Duffle Bag

Duffle bags are usually done in nylon or canvas, so it’s nice to see a good sturdy leather duffle enter the fray. APC always deliver on those basics that someone really should have made before. The bag shape is unchanged from their previous collections – but being available in full grain leather adds a level of sophistication that isn’t usually seen in duffle bags. Taking this to the gym would be doing a disservice, keep it for short trips and nights over at the girlfriend/boyfriend’s house.
