Available now through the J. Crew Liquor Store in NYC and the Hamptons is this belt collaboration with leather goods maker Billykirk (also friend of Selectism). Their collaborative belt is “limited edition [and] handstitched leather with a custom solid brass buckle.” We’re fans, of course. (acquire)

Steven Alan Single Needle Pre-Fall Shirts

steven alan single needle shirts 00 Steven Alan Single Needle Pre Fall Shirts

Check these “boxy fit” shirts from Steven Alan’s Pre-Fall Collection. These shirts are single needle seamed are said to be more “refined” than a double needle stitch with a cleaner seam. I’m not sure if it really matters to me as at the end of the day, it’s the Steven Alan build that I’m buying.

More looks at the Steven Alan Single Needle Pre-Fall Shirts after the jump.

Oliver Spencer Autumn/Winter 2009 Preview

oliver spencer autumn 2009 01 Oliver Spencer Autumn/Winter 2009 Preview

All fans of Johnny Depp should look away now. After using a Depp doppleganger in their last couple of lookbooks, Oliver Spencer have decided to use a more traditional model. While Jack Sparrow fans will be disheartened, we can’t help but feel that when the model gets more attention than the clothes, it’s time to move on.

As for the clothes, you know the drill by now for Oliver Spencer – impeccably made basics, contemporary touches to classic clothing, that sort of thing. We’re fans in particular of the collars on the shirts and the waxed cotton jacket that’s remarkably un-Barbouresque, if you know what we mean.

Take a look at the collection after that hop and skip.

bicycle moore front Bicycle: people + ideas in motion

This summer and into early fall, Moore College of Art hosts Bicycle: people + ideas in motion. Through a series of exhibitions, events, and films the school explores the art and design of the bicycle. Local legends Bilenky Cycle Works are well represented and “Bicycle Design’s Commuter Bike for the Masses Competition” reveals some excellent answers to the questions “just how do we get more people on bikes?” The events have started and will roll on until October 13, 2009.

Ahead of the July 2 opening of his first major showing in England, taking place at the Serpentine Gallery in London, Jeff Koons entertained the Channel 4 news crew. Focus is on the Popeye series of paintings and sculpture, giving preview to the exhibition. Worth watching for Koons’ description of his studio process. (via Arrested Motion).

While we love navy, grey and black as much as the next man, sometimes you need to a splash of colour. We’re big fans of washed out colours in general, so it’s only natural that we loved them in Burberry’s SS09 ‘crumpled classics’ collection. Even though it’s on sale, at £777 it’s still strictly for people who’ve either got it like that or want to give up their social life for a few months. (Burberry)

Farfetch | Opening Ceremony Interview

humberto leon farfetch Farfetch | Opening Ceremony Interview

Farfetch recently caught up with the co-founder of Opening Ceremony, Humberto Leon. Now that everyone’s aiming to build an empire nowadays, it’s interesting to see a company that grew organically rather than forcing things to ‘go to the next level’. Leon gives an interesting answer when asked about the store’s clientele:

“All different types of people wear our clothing – from eight year olds to 80 year olds, we have such a varied clientele. The people who shop at our store and buy our designs have their own individual style, and they buy from us because they are after something special, unique and quirky.”

01. Pop-Up Gourmet | Buenos Aires Comes to You

“Last week, a bit of Buenos Aires sprung up on a TriBeCa rooftop as members of the Society got a taste of the South American underground supper club Casa Felix. For the last three years, the chef Diego Felix and his fiancée, Sanra Ritten, have served pescetarian meals in their colorful home in Chacharita, where random groups of stylish foodies are seated every weekend for a (rare) steak-free evening that focuses on the indigenous ingredients that Felix sources throughout the continent.” (themoment)

02. Brits Miffed by Roger Federer’s Gold-Lamé–Accented Tennis Outfit

“The Telegraph was so stunned by Roger Federer’s Wimbledon outfit yesterday that it devoted twoarticles to the subject. Well, the first was supposed to be chiefly about his tennis (you know, thatsport he plays). Oh, if only the words “unique elegance” and “sublime” were in reference to his ensemble. But alas, no.” (thecut)

03. Our Top Five Favorite Fall/Winter Ad Campaigns So Far

“There’s never a dull moment in fashion. As soon as you think the fall shows are over, it’s onto cruise, and resort, and then the fall lines you had already forgotten about start hitting the shelves. In between all that you might not even have time to think about the ad campaigns!” (r29)

04. The New York Times Magazine Redesign

“A little over a week ago on 14 June 2009 one of my favorite magazines, The New York Times Magazine, quietly unveiled a new design and format in an effort to cut costs and waste (there weretwo artist designed covers for the 14 June issue, shown above). Announced in that issue’s editor’s letter by Gerald Marzorati, I’m surprised how under the radar it went over. It is only the second time they’ve redesigned the magazine in its 100+ years of existence.” (coolhunting)

05. Panta Rhei college interiors / i29

“In the design for the new accommodations of public school Panta Rhei in Amstelveen (NL) there is a lot of attention on the balance between freedom and a sense of security. Snelder Architecten realised a building with many open multifunctional spaces where students can make themselves familiar with the teaching material. The interior design by i29 links up with that perfectly and gives the spaces an identity that connects with the students’ environment and addresses them directly and personally.” (archdaily)

movado master automatic watch 00 Movado Master Automatic Watch

This may be the first Movado I have been tempted to investigate further in a while. The Master Automatic is housed in a 44mm casing and features your expected sapphire crystal and clear display back. “Machined in solid stainless steel, the angular tonneau-shaped case with screw-down crown features a gear-edge black sapphire or double-row diamond-set bezel, and raised door-style hinges. Functioning as attachments for Movado Master’s rubber deployment strap.” (wh)
