Capsule NY | TSOVET Watches

Selectism - Capsule NY | TSOVET Watches

TSOVET drops a variety of new models at (capsule). The Field Watch (shown above) was drawing the attention of our Philly editor – with its blue hands and clean simple face.  Other models pull from marine influences as well as other big face monsters that are still trending well at the moment. The collection from TSOVET continues to mature nicely.

Many more looks at the new TSOVET watch models after the jump.

Selectism - Capsule NY | Timberland Spring 2010

More from (capsule) this afternoon. The Timberland mainline collection for Spring 2010 features three boots which sway from the normal offering the New Hampshire puts out there. They look to pull a bit from the “Boot Company” collection into their mainline, so much in fact that one could be confused. The best way to tell is to look for the missing Vibram sole.

Our Legacy Autumn/Winter 2009

selectism - our-legacy-autumn-2009-01

With all the focus on Capsule and SS10 collections, Our Legacy quietly snuck out their AW09 lookbook the other day. As you’d expect it looks great, although we wouldn’t recommend the shoeless look you see on the left. Actually, we would recommend the look, just put some footwear on.

After featuring the clothes looking lonely, It’s nice to see them all dolled up. It makes it that much easier to see where they’ve made cut adjustments. The trousers all look like they’ve got more of a taper, with a couple of jeans bordering on slim legged – a first for the company. Blazers also seem a little closer cut to the body – no bad thing.

Take a gander at more pictures after the leap.

COS Autumn/Winter 2009 Backpack

selectism - cos-autumn-2009-backpack-01

We featured this before, but it’s worth a closer look. We’ve been personal fans of COS for quite a while now – the only reason we don’t feature them more is because they’re very hard to get hold of. The Japanese stuff we feature is fiddly, but getting a COS piece without walking into a store is damn near impossible.

We liked this bag when we saw the preview, but loved it after seeing it in store. The first thing we love is that it’s huge, as in The North Face backpack huge. It could easily fit enough clothes for an overnight stay or a 15inch laptop with room to spare. The second thing is that the canvas material feels raw, like cocaine straight from Bolivia. The third thing is that it captures the whole hunter/workwear thing that’s going to be hot this Autumn down to a tee. It’s also at an affordable price (£129).

Take a look at some detailed shots after that jump.

Vivienne Westwood Double Breasted Jacket

21 July 2009, 10.30 | Posted in Fashion | 2 comments »

selectism - vivienne-westwood-jacket-01

The Tom Ford effect strikes again. Huge lapels have always been a Ford staple and it looks like it’s trickled down to Vivienne Westwood’s menswear collection. Personally, we could have done with the lapels being slimmed down just a tad – but at least this way there’s a big dramatic effect when you pop your collar.

We love Vivienne Westwood’s passion for the environment and not spending too much on clothing, but when you take a look at her own prices (£559 for this jacket), her speeches are a little hard to swallow. But if you’ve got it like that, this jacket is worth it. (Farfetch)

Take a gander after the leap for a detailed look.

Selectism - Milli Shoebox

01. Sebastian Carter: Jan Tschichold — Master Typographer

“Jan Tschichold was one of the most distinguished typographers of the last century, and has had many admirers, among whom he himself was not the least. His work has been described and illustrated in his own publications and those of Ruari McLean, who was also responsible for the translations into English of his two chief books of instruction.” (designobserver)

02. The Vinyl Frontier – Movie

“The Vinyl Frontier movie ~ sneak preview at comicon saturday night ~ see you there!”  (notcot)

03. Milli Shoebox

“The name Milli is short for ‘millimeters’, the unit that measures the size of bullets. It is also short for ‘millisecond’, which is often the margin of victory in a foot race. The shoe is places inside a bullet-shaped box, a symbol of power and speed.” (dieline)

04.  Creative Space

“So what are the interiors of the homes of designers, graphic artists and creatives in general like? You know, the kind of people who shop at Colette’s or down on NY’s Lower East Side – those who love to visit vintage jungles and contemporary art shows and sift through antique markets and stores of every kind as they travel from city to city. “Creative Space” is a book that portrays a world rather like “The Selby” and it’s the work of journalist Francesca Gavin.” (cnc)

Selectism - Capsule NY | TSC Spring 2010

The Smooth Company re-brands itself to Tsc for 2010. The label previews their Spring 2010 collection during (capsule) and reinforces the fact that the line has seen a drastic change in their cuts and fit. We respect their honesty in regards to previous efforts.

Selectism - Capsule NY | Coming Soon Spring 2010 Footwear

Yohji Yamamoto’s diffusion line, Coming Soon, previews their Spring 2010 footwear at (capsule). The “relaxed youthful” vibe continues into their shoes witha series of high, low, and slip-on models that bounces black against white. Our backup is the low-top in what looks to be digital camo green (seen below) which should work for a more discreet look. We’re told to expect distribution to be slightly wider than the apparel collection. Keys open doors. Quick note. We hear this collection was done in collaboration with Generic Surplus. Not a bad look.
