Lad Musician Canvas Holdalls

lad musician canvas bag 01 Lad Musician Canvas Holdalls

Lad Musician have long been one of our favourite Japanese brands for two reasons. Firstly, they make great clothes and secondly, we can get hold of them without the need to have a friend in Japan. They’ve just dropped their AW09 collection online – Japan only at the moment – and these holdalls are the pick of the bunch.

The blog love for canvas bags has slowed lately, but we still like ‘em – especially when they’re as good as these. They’re perfect for an overnight stay or trip to the gym and they come in black, grey and brown. (Lad Musician)

Like we said they’re Japan only right now, but they’ll be sure to drop at Opening Ceremony soon enough.

Check after that jump for pictures of the alternate colourways and detail shots.

b store herbie boots 01 B Store Herbie Navy Suede Boots

We’ve got a love/hate affair with Suede shoes. We love how they look and feel, but hate how easily they can become seriously damaged. Luckily enough, most boots look better battered, suede or otherwise.

These ‘herbie’ suede boots are part of their AW09 footwear collection, which has recently just dropped in their online (and physical) stores. These boots may not have the heritage of older brands but, heaven forbid, sometimes we just like things because they look good. (B Store)

Check up after the leap for a couple of detailed shots.

“Her experiment’s home is theuniformproject.com, where she posts a picture every day of whatever ensemble she has come up with. The exercise was designed to attract online attention, as it is also meant to be a yearlong effort to round up donations for the Akanksha Foundation, a nonprofit that supports education efforts for underprivileged children in India.” (nyt)

02. Footprint: Milwaukee

“For more than 40 years in Milwaukee, the Fourth of July has been synonymous withSummerfest. About 900,000 people set up camp on the banks of Lake Michigan to watch over 700 bands on 11 stages over 10 days..” (wsj)

“The Absolut No Label bottles are numbered and contain no label or logo. They feature only a removable campaign sticker with the website address, where consumers can find more information and give feedback. The product was launched on May 22 and in Scandinavian travel-retail the exclusivity deal will be extended until the end of August.” (dieline)

The cycling world gets another sock to commemorate Italy, arguably the world’s most passionate cycling nation. So who better to this than a Danish clothing line and a Swedish sock company? Together, Happy Socks and Wood Wood have released the 2/3 CORSA sock which features green, white, and red stripes at the top of the sock. It’s hard to imagine but the CORSA is being produced in a limited run of 1000 socks. You can never have enough socks. Proper timing with the TdF and all.

Fresh looks have arrived of the Prada for Autumn 2009 Campaign as shot by Hedi Slimane. We’re fond of the eyewear presented in the campaign – from sunglasses to frames (I happen to be in the market for a new frame at the moment). High contrast photography accentuate the looks well. (fashonisto)

April77 Buck Shoes

april77 buck shoes 00 April77 Buck Shoes

April77 is ready to release some more “creulty free” footwear (we previewed their cowboy boot in the past). Take a look at their new collection of buck shoes which are free of leathers and other animal parts (the designer Brice is a Vegan). They are simple and look like common bucks, but for the consumer who is concerned with remaining animal safe, April77’s Buck shoes are a great alternative. And to top it off, the inside heel of each shoe is gold stamped with ”Real Men Don’t Wear Leather.”  Try telling that to one of the bears standing outside your local biker bar. They’re retail in the USA for 210$US.

More looks at the April77 Buck Shoes after the jump.

97 lots went up this afternoon (GMT) of 20th-Century British Art at Christies. Pieces by David Hockney, Ruskin Spear, and Sir Noel Coward were among the works on offer. Though the sale has now finished, it is well worth going through the online catalog. A lovely representation of the centuries styles and idioms.
