core77 dutch master bicycle 1 Core77 Dutch Master Limited Bicycle

ID superstar blog, Core77, drop exciting news regarding their new Dutch Master Limited Bicycle. “The Dutch Master is based on the beloved Worksman cruiser frame—a workhorse foundation used throughout the New York delivery community, and manufactured in Queens, New York for over 110 years. Core77 customized the frame, fitting it out with a carefully curated set of components, each with its own story.” Looks as though most of the bike assembly was done in Brooklyn – from the wheels to the frame. A great looking cruiser.

Wooyoungmi Spring 2010

wooyoungmi spring summer 2010 00 Wooyoungmi Spring 2010

Fashionisto continues their great approach to fashion criticism with a look at the Wooyoungmi Spring 2010. ”With a collection titled ‘The Painter’, it is difficult not to compare the latest from Wooyoungmi with Alexander McQueen’s collection of similar concept. Whereas McQueen rested on his quirks, incorporating a painter’s sloppy work into his garments, Wooyoungmi took a more thoughtful approach. Interrupting her usual clean straight lines, Wooyoungmi saw to a partial dissection that imitates the tension between tradition and functional use from the standpoint of a painter.”

wurst spring summer 2010 01 Q&A | The Wurst Clothing Line S/S 2010

ACL gets all personal with the Wurst Clothing line. “I absolutely live in oxford cloth, so that isn’t something I throw around lightly. The Wurst story is far from conventional in terms of how most clothing lines are launched, but that is something that intrigued me. Not to mention the fact that the goods are made domestically, so I approached Wurst with an open mind and took a few minutes to catch up with  the brand’s founder Roy Dank  (ed note: amazing name sir!) about the debut S/S10 collection.”

daumier front France in Transformation: The Caricature of Honore Daumier, 1833 1870

Dartmouth’s Hood Museum Of Art is playing host to a collection of wonderful and witty cartoons. Honore Daumier was (and remains) one of the most adept satirists of his day, delivering with great humor an account of France during the rapidly changing 19th-century. France in Transformation covers Daumier’s career and adds insight into the cultural and political scene of his times. On view until August 24, 2009.

More caricature work by Daumier after the jump.

Brooks Hoxton Wire Basket

brooks hoxton wire basket Brooks Hoxton Wire Basket

Brooks takes their best practice approach to the world of baskets. And why not? After you run the show for generations in the world of leather saddles, you may as well attempt another product or two. Take their Hoxton Wire Basket for instance. Made of a metal structure, wooden base and a leather grip, the Hoxton is a reasonably price extension to your bike which turns it into a commuting dream.

Paul Smith Saddle ‘Scott’ Shoe

paul smith saddle shoe Paul Smith Saddle Scott Shoe

Who’d have though saddle shoes would make a comeback? Sure, people liked them in that picture of Robert Redford on the beach, but no one seriously thought about wearing them. But, due to the current love for anything old, saddle shoes now look the epitome of cool.

Trust Paul Smith to make the most modern looking pair we’ve seen. The slim last means it’ll fit with your slim (New Standard) to tight (New Cure) jeans without looking like you’ve got clown feet. (Paul Smith)

 Think/Make: Della Valle Bernheimer

Detailing the architectural practice of Della Valle Bernheimer, the Brooklyn-based firm of Andrew Bernheimer and Jared Della Valle, Think/Make Think/Make: Della Valle Bernheimer is about the process by which the duo creates. In under a decade, the two architects have built an impressive body of work – landing commissions for condo towers in Chelsea and a public swimming pool in Denmark. The projects presented in the book deliver a step by step demonstration of how Della Valle Bernheimer brings the two aspects of their creative process (thinking and making) together, thus providing a full look into the workings of their relationship to each other, buildings and space. Think/Make is out from Princeton Architectural Press.

springcourt g2 mia france Springcourt G2 MIA France

We’re not usually fans of Springcourt’s special editions, but this one is special enough to  make it onto our radar.

The reason we like these is because they’re just enough of a twist to make these worthwhile whilst not ruining what makes Springcourts great. They also come with spare laces, which is always nice. These aren’t available on the Springcourt USA site, but the French site has an english translation and overseas shipping, so you’ll be alright. (Springcourt)

01. Beck launches interview series with Tom Waits

The singer’s first interview subject is legendary crooner Tom Waits, with whom Beck discusses various topics including the colourful history of Los Angeles…” (nme)

02. Madonna Collaborates With Sunn O))) In Manchester

Holy shit. “Last week, electronic pioneers Kraftwerk used the setting of the Manchester Velodrome to perform alongside the British cycling team. Surely, there is something in those heavy north western skies that inspires artists to reach across the divides of aesthetic or practice? And so it is that on July 7th, 2009, Madonna invited magisterial doom troupe Sunn O))) onto the stage during her concert at the Manchester MEN arena, as the photograph above clearly proves…” (quietus)

03. Hennessy Black (above)

“Hennessy Black’s new cognac packaging is a study in contrasts. A black/silver/gray color scheme is elegantly portrayed with impeccable attention to detail. A glossy black finish allows the bottle to better catch the light. The new hot-pressed silver logo block emphasizes the stylized “armed arm”. The top of the bottle represents a black chain-mail armor on a gun-colored gray background, which perfectly suits the shape of the metallic cap. The 1785 matte black medallion has been redesigned…” (dieline)

04. Greenest County Fair on Earth Boasts First Solar Powered Carousel

“Few events capture the sun-soaked glory of summer better than a county fair, and when the whirling lights and sounds are powered by clean green energy what’s not to love? Sponsored in part by PG&E, this year’s Marin County Fair was host to a dazzling array of green innovations ranging from the world’s first solar-powered carousel to an all-electric auto show to a sound stage juiced by the sun’s rays…” (inhabitant)
