NeoLithic Ceramic Cooking Knives

neolithic knife front NeoLithic Ceramic Cooking Knives

Taking inspiration from the utilitarian cooking implements of generations (long) passed, designer Matthias Kaeding has fashioned a new version of the neolithic knife. The ceramic knives have both blunt and sharp sides, allowing a full range of kitchen tasks in a single tool. A touch more attractive than the typical chefs knife, and certainly fuller in capacity. Tricker’s for Kurt Geiger

07 July 2009, 15.30 | Posted in Shoes | 2 comments »

trickers kurt geiger 01 Trickers for Kurt Geiger

Esquire UK, which everyone should be reading – it’s like Monocle for people who aren’t rich dullards – turn us on to the news that Trickers have collaborated with Kurt Geiger. Last summer Geiger worked with Grenson on some pastel brogues and this year they’ve teamed up with Tricker’s on four pairs of brogue boots.

While last year’s collection was more of an acquired taste colour-wise (pastel brogues aren’t for everyone), this year they’ve stuck with the usual brown, black, navy and white. As you’d expect, they’re ridicously well made and as you’d expect, they’re not cheap. (Kurt Geiger)

Take a look at the collection after the leap.

Olivier Borde Spring/Summer 2010

olivier garde spring 2010 01 Olivier Borde Spring/Summer 2010

At this time of year, fashion is a confusing minefield. There’s SS09 collections on sale, AW09 entering stores and SS10 showing on the catwalks. To top it all off, AW10 will be showing before we can catch our breath. I feel like it was only ten minutes ago we were looking at Olivier Borde’s SS09 collection and now, thanks to We Are The Market, we can take a look at his impressive SS10 collection.

Fashion is a dirty word in menswear circles. The general notion seems to be that if you say you’re interested in style and not fashion, then you’re somehow a deeper, more thoughtful person than those frivolous fashion types. That’s why we’re happy to see a collection like Borde’s. It’s definitely ‘fashion’, but it’s also very wearable – even for those who are scared of any outfit that doesn’t consist of an oxford.

The collection, entitled “Brutality in Pale Colors, The wild side of youth leashed”, focuses on comfort, featuring acres of chambray and jersey in various forms. There’s also baggy trousers galore as fashion finally moves from the super skinny silhouette. Check out the rest of the collection after the leap.

Lodger Footwear Italian Summer Weekend Range

lodger summer weekend range front Lodger Footwear Italian Summer Weekend Range

Nothing quite says summer refinement like a pair of loafers, worn without socks. With this notion in mind, Lodger Footwear’s Italian Summer Weekend Range brings a great deal of style and isn’t light on luxury. Constructed of super-fine suede, the loafers come in either stone or chocolate (see above) and are finished with a hand stitched apron and counter. Beyond, Lodger is introducing its new Weekend Sole with the range – a hand finished leather sole complemented by rubber tread inserts. For those that are truly bold, the stone color way also comes in a tasseled option.

See both versions of the stone loafer after the jump.

Neville Brody Wallpaper* August Cover

wallpaper cover 01 Neville Brody Wallpaper* August Cover

Neville Brody has been putting in work for Wallpaper’s August issue, designing the subscriber cover and making a new font. Brody stated that he wanted “something that seems raw and takes time to work through” and judging from the cover, which took us a good few minutes to work out, he’s certainly achieved that.We don’t want to spoil it for you guys and girls though, so we won’t tell you what it says.

Font geeks should love the ‘Peace 2′ font, which was based on the Tate & Lyle logo. It’s used throughout the magazine, spreads of which you can see after the leap. (Creative Review)

01. Self Edge New York

“We wanted to open another Self Edge and Los Angeles was on our mind, then the right opportunity came up in New York with the owners of 3sixteen taking part in the store. We think between the two entities we can bring something fresh to New York, a very purist view of denim and vintage style garments from the Japanese point of view, with purist being the key word.” (coolhunting)

02. Cheap Trick brings back the 8-track

“hose who swear by vinyl say that records provide a warmer sound compared to compact discs, and that the larger packaging and gatefold artwork offer a superior tactile experience (and certainly to digital downloads). But where’s the love for the 8-track, those bulky blasts from the past which sounded fine enough in your El Camino…” (notcot>globe&mail)

03. Undercover – The Evolution of Underwear

“Underwear was first created to govern the body – to shape its irregularities and bulges. Over time, it has begun to look quite nice on its own. King Henry VIII started a century-long spiralling trend of increasing codpiece sizes. This extravagance shows no signs of stopping, with the US underwear market alone worth $13 billion a year.” (dpanic)

04. Glass Balcony at Sears Tower (above)

“The 1.5″ thick glass floor (which resists up to 5 tons) offers amazing views over Chicago, from 1,353 feet in the air.” (archdaily)

Hublot Selfridges Big Bang Chronograph

hublot big bang selfridges Hublot Selfridges Big Bang Chronograph

First, let me tell you how they put it. “Hublot is delighted to announce their special Limited Edition ‘Selfridges Big Bang’ timepiece, forming part of the Big Bang range, in celebration of Selfridges centenary year in the retail business. This new partnership honors not only a century of business but also a shared understanding and love of exceptional timepieces.” What’s missing from this description is that the Big Bang is available in an extremely limited run of ten unit, which can be interpreted as “friends and family” at best. That aside, it is a gem with the Selfridges Pantone 109C.

Hope Spring 2010

Fashonisto brings commentary on the Hope Spring 2010 collection. “Hope designers Ann Ringstrand and Stefan Söderberg have a simple story in mind for next year’s spring season. With a focus on fashion that is current, yet uncomplicated, the design duo presented a functional collection of tailored separates. The core pieces of menswear were broken down to meet a criteria best described as relaxed sophistication.”

Success Rocker Lad Musician T-Shirts

lad musician success rockers 00 Success Rocker Lad Musician T Shirts

There is something damn dirty about this group of t-shirts from Success Rocker / Lad Musician. The whole Death Metal movement is Scandinavian and Floridian in some regard but the Japanese line knows how to take their toned down approach to it and re-appropriate it for the Japan crowds who like nothing more than the grasp onto anything and everything (in a positive way). Put away your Oxford. It’s the summer. Sweat a little.
