cheap monday spring summer 2010 00 Cheap Monday Spring/Summer 2010

Cheap Monday showcases their Cheap Monday Spring/Summer 2010 Collection of looks which work well with the modern alternative pop movement. Their looks mix flavors which follow the current music trends well, with baggy fits, layering, and a certain androgyny to it all. No doubt it works in clear climates.

Rare Copy Of The Declaration Of Independence Found

declaration of independence dunlap Rare Copy Of The Declaration Of Independence Found

The AP reports in with word that a rare, unknown copy of the Declaration of Independence has been discovered in the United Kingdom.

British researchers have announced the discovery of a rare original copy of America’s Declaration of Independence — just in time for the Fourth of July.

Katrina McClintock, a spokeswoman at the National Archives, said Thursday that a researcher accidentally discovered the “Dunlap print,” named after a printer, several months ago. The find was announced only after it could be properly catalogued.

Edward Hampshire, the National Archives’ specialist in colonial materials, said the find was “incredibly exciting.”

“It is likely that only around 200 of these were ever printed, so uncovering a new one nearly 250 years later is extremely rare, especially one in such good condition,” he said.

Happy 4th of July to all celebrating…

More looks from Bread & Butter. We come again to the Nigel Cabourn showing with focus on his beeswax cotton jackets. Two cuts are available – a longer rain coat inspired version as seen after the jump, as well as a shorter model with hood. Choose between off-white and yellow (yellow being my favorite, but Mr. Cabourn himself preferred we show the off-white). Easily one of our favorite collections of the BBB show.

breitling superocean heritage chronograph watch 00 Breitling Superocean Heritage 125th Anniversary Watch

Full disclosure: I own and have been running with a Breitling Superocean for years now. In my opinion, it’s one of the finest timepieces around for the money, so it’s nice to see A Blog to Read profile the 125th anniversary edition of the Superocean that’s hitting shops shortly. “I have really liked the Superocean Heritage line of watch every since they came out a few years ago, and they just keep upping the ante with watches that I want. Well here are the second line of chronograph watches for the collection. The first were simply the Superocean Heritage Chronograph watches with Valjoux 7750 movements, but these limited edition models have a sweet bi-compax subdial array which is infinitely more classic and “heritage” in style.”

Don’t let anyone tell you blogging isn’t dangerous. We had to take these pictures quickly or run the risk of rugby tackled by a security guard. While boat shoes are quickly turning into the footwear equivalent of the check shirt (as in it’s the neverending trend) these are pretty special.

We’ve seen plenty of high tops incorporating design touches usually seen in boat shoes, but we haven’t seen boat shoes with the high top heel cushion. It’s a thoughtful that’ll make the shoe a lot more enjoyable to wear.

clarks spring 2010 05 Bread & Butter | Clarks Originals for Spring 2010

Clarks Originals presented their Spring 2010 collection for the European market at this week’s Bread & Butter Berlin. Colorway changes are abundant in the collection, as well as new fabrics and materials. Our favorites include the Desert Boot worked, of course, in leather and suede. Worth a look if youre in the market for some new Clarks classics. That does not mean you should toss your others though. Clarks simply look better with age.

Sometimes it’s nice to stumble across a great brand you’ve never heard of before. That’s what happened earlier on today when we came across British brand Nicholas Deakins. The brand has actually been going since 1991 and launched with just four styles of shoes.

We never thought we’d say this but we might, might just prefer Deakins’ wallabees over the Clarks versions. They’ve added enough twists to make these new and interesting while not making them look overdesigned. Take a look at more pictures after the leap.

Goodwood Festival of Speed

goodwood front Goodwood Festival of Speed

The Goodwood Festival of Speed enters its 12th year this weekend. Hosted at a Goodwood House in Sussex, the festival celebrates the raw power and dynamism of the automobile. Each year a sculpture is erected at the site and Audi is the 2009 commissioning agent. Gerry Judah is responsible for the design and implementation. Technically ambitious, it is quite the spectacle.
