Bread & Butter | Swear Spring/Summer 2010

swear spring 2010 01 Bread & Butter | Swear Spring/Summer 2010

Once again, excuse us. We’ve been at Bread and Butter and haven’t been able to post until now. We promise we’ll never leave you style deprived again.

Swear showed their SS10 collection at BBB, hitting us with a flood of new shoe styles. These include an updated creeper, which have a slightly slimmer sole than the original – making them that much more palatable for those who thought the original too extreme. The mixture of leather and suede on shoe uppers is becoming a staple, and Swear’s SS10 collection has it in abundance.

Go ahead and take a look at the collection after that leap.

The airport housing Bread & Butter Berlin is one of the biggest buildings we have walked through. The show has lined up shuttles, free bikes, and golf carts to help transport people across the show floor. Today we rode ourselves over to the Filson booth. Some standouts included these Filson Field Bags. Boxy in shape but built with the durability we’re used to from Filson, they come in a variety of sizes that are made to fit your travel needs.

More views of the Filson Field Bags after the jump.

Here’s a exclusive seen at the Nigel Cabourn booth at Bread & Butter Berlin. Mr. Cabourn called upon footwear maker, Yuketen for a Japan only release. Using the Yuketen Hunting Boot, Cabourn outfits the silhouette with military grade fabrics which are spec’d from WWII materials. The outcome is a solid built shoe which we in the West may never be able to get our hands on. Nevertheless, we love it.

trickers bbb 011 Bread & Butter | Trickers

Excuse our posting tardiness, but we’ve been out all day at Bread & Butter (as you might have guessed from the title). Tricker’s are the latest new addition to the recently moved tradeshow and they brought along some of their more colourful examples to show what they can do.

Although we’d invite every shoe in this collection into our wardrobe, our favourites would have to be the blue leather brogues with a sly piece of suede along the eyelets. Low profile shoe lovers will enjoy the exquisitely well made loafers also. Take a look at the collection after the leap.

In Take Me Out to the Old Yankee Stadium, Steven Heller offers his thoughts on how the teams new ballpark works to reinforce legacy and continue the strengths of the brand. From the architecture to the signage, the piece covers the core components that make the retro styled stadium. Ultimately though, Heller finds some fault in the design, and offers reminder of what made the House that Ruth Built a personal favorite.

Subjects of a retrospective exhibition at the Vitra Design Museum, Fernando and Humberto Campana have lent their unique design view to Lacoste for a new series of shirts. Playing with the shared interest in alligators and crocodiles (the brother’s designed a chair a chair upholstered with stuffed alligator toys), the union results into some interesting arrangements for the classic Lacoste logo. Head to Dezeen for a full run down of the project.

After the jump, view a few examples of the Campanas + Lacoste creations.

Pierre Hardy Autumn/Winter 2009 Chelsea Boot

pierre hardy autumn 2009 chelsea boot Pierre Hardy Autumn/Winter 2009 Chelsea Boot

Here’s another belated drop from Pierre Hardy’s AW09 collection. We’ve gotta be honest, we’re not that into Pierre Hardy’s shoes – but these make the grade. They’ve got a rounded toe (which we’re noted fans of) and the suede is, for lack of a better word, buttery. And that’s all we have to say about it.

Farfetch have an interesting interview with bag maker Ally Capellino. Capellino talks about her beginnings, future collaborations and her approach to to the brand. An interesting answer is when she was asked her style and design philosophy.

“Practical, tactile, unstructured, casual, wearable and classic. I like to be inspired by the leathers or fabrics that I find, rather than design something and then try to apply it to a material.”
