From the looks of the sale, Liberty overloaded on Edifice this season. This is one of those bad news/good news situations. The bad news is they’ll probably have far less in next season. The good news is that what is in this season is going for ridiculously low prices. Take this denim blazer for instance. For those instantly put off by the idea of a denim blazer – don’t be. This is as soft as can be and it’s available from the grand total of £52.50 (down from over £300). Calling this a bargain would be an understatement.  (Liberty)

The Steel Closet have a cool music related interview with the face of Oki-Ni, Daniel Mitchell. Mitchell is also the creative assistant at Oki-Ni and DJ’s with the team all around London. As he says:

“I’m Daniel Mitchell the creative assistant, I do some of the buying and I’m heading up our new music venture which I will tell you all about. I also do the modeling for the site – yes that’s me!….. ha!”/blockquote>

When asked about Oki-Ni’s approach he answers,

“We are just going out finding solid product that we buzz off… have never seen before and wanna wear ourselves. We then share this with people through our website.”

This year, for the auction 35 high watchmaking brands are each making a unique piece. All the proceeds from Only Watch go to support research into Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.” The chassis is done in stainless steel covered in red Hermes leather (12 layers). It measures 175mm high by 150mm wide and is 37mm thick.  Taking names with this one. We’ll feature more from the Only Watch 2009 auction in the coming days.

01. Heinz Edelmann, ‘Yellow Submarine’ Artist, Dies at 75 (above)

“Heinz Edelmann, the multifaceted graphic designer and illustrator who created the comically hallucinogenic landscape of Pepperland as art director for the 1968 animated Beatles film “Yellow Submarine,” died on Tuesday in Stuttgart, Germany. He was 75.” (nyt)

02. Lukas Petrash’s MCD House: Trash becomes a family’s treasure

“To describe the house Lukas Petrash designed and built for his aunt Mary Coronis-Dros and her two children in Huntsville, Texas, requires a certain breathless tone. MCD House cost only $24,500 to build, with $10,000 of that forgiven as a federal homesteading grant. It measures only 484 square feet. And Petrash was only 23 years old when he finished it. The project began when local artist and president of the Sustainable Builder’s Guild in Huntsville Dan Philips issued Petrash, then approaching his fifth year at the University of Southern California, a challenge…” (archrecord)

04. Students Build a Car the Blind Can Drive

A killer pair of wing-tips over on Arks. Finished in an almost chocolate scotch grain leather, these wingtips are solid builds from Tricker’s and sure to knock the crap out of those haters with one swift kick. They’re made to look tough.
