Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010

Selectism - Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010

Here is a preview of the forthcoming Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010 collection which will make its way into their shops later in the year. We have been fans of the Dunerdon outerwear for some time but have never really focused on their casual wear. What we find is a nice mix of Japanese denim with casual tops and button downs – all of which work. The pricepoint is more than proper. Sweden represent.

Many more looks from the Dunderdon Spring/Summer 2010 collection after the jump.

Selectism - Nom De Guerre Suit Waistcoats

Two great waistcoats from the Nom De Guere collection are available now from Oki-ni. They come in black and brown and feature wool front and black striped polyester back. The flap pockets are also fully lined. Both waistcoats work well with a variety of looks. A nice addition to your wardrobe.

Selectism - Balenciaga Lurex Mittens

We figure someone is going to get cold soon. It may not be in the Northeast USA but I am sure Scandinavia (hello!) will get some chill before we do. You could go some some subtle gloves but why not try these unisex luggers from Balenciaga. The Lurex Mittens feature thumb holes and can be worn short or long on the arm. If they don’t work for you, your girl will take them. Well made with 52/48 wool/lurex. (browns)

Selectism - SHOWstudio Shop, London

Wallpaper* comes through with a look at the new SHOWstudio Shop in London. “Aside from traveling the world shooting for everyone from Yamamoto to McQueen to Wallpaper* (Knight shot our fashion story for the June sex issue); and being an all round creative deity, Nick Knight is also the brains behind SHOWstudio – the pioneering fashion website launched back in 2000. This month, SHOWstudio adds another string to its already sizable bow, with the SHOWstudio Shop.” Congrats to them.

selectism - Skinner Science, Technology & Clock Auction

On Saturday July 25, 2009, Skinner hosts their Science, Technology & Clock auction. Many of the lots deal with maritime technology, but there are also some fine pocket watches scattered throughout. Above is a trio of “three dollar” watches made by Ingersoll of New York. One of them is inscribed “St. Louis Worlds Fair, 1904,” another “Souvenir Pan American Exposition 1901, Buffalo, NY, USA.” The third watch is the “Eclipse” model with a blue dial. Excellent pieces of Americana at a fair valuation.

The auction will be held in Marlborough, MA. View the catalog at Skinner.

Selectism - NYT | Wipe That Smirk Off Your T-Shirt

There is a great article on the world of shop t-shirts over on New York Times. “Plenty of examples exist of the divisions between tourists and locals in beach towns, but the T-shirts in the window at Johnny’s Tackle Shop here are a good place to start. True, a ‘Kiss My Bass’ T-shirt grabs the attention of both anglers and day-trippers wandering Main Street in this town at the east end of Long Island. But shirts like that can be found wherever in the world rods and sinkers are sold.”

Selectism - Wood Wood Backpack for Spring 2010

Pulling bits and pieces from the (capsule) show. We will of course have a full view of the Spring 2010 Wood Wood collection shortly. In the meantime, view this backpack in a solid orange creamsicle colorway. A very Scandinavian feel to it. We also get a view of the  line’s WW mark that changes with every season.  The design is clean and simple with black nylon straps for extra support, and buttons accenting the smaller pockets.

selectism - Bowery Lane Bicycles

Drawing some attention at (capsule) NYC, Bowery Lane Bicycles produces vintage inspired hand-made bicycles. Each bicycle is built of American steel with a commitment to affordability. Shown above, the Broncks comes in both black and raw finish and retails for $595. The bikes are nicely appointed with leather saddles and cork grips.

A good option for those searching for a handsome bicycle and not wishing to break the bank.

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer 2010 Shoes

23 July 2009, 15.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

selectism - alexander-mcqueen-spring-2010-shoes

You remember when we said that we were done with Alexander McQueen? Well, uh, we weren’t. We’ve had the pictures for a good while, but we couldn’t post them. You can blame that on a certain member of the SL team leaving his laptop behind in Berlin whilst making a drunken return to the UK (we never said we were Mensa members).

But let’s focus on the shoes. We’re into the dramatic broguing on the toe cap of these shoes and like how each one has been given it’s own lease of life by the different laces (or lack of them). This is, and we promise this time, the last of McQueen’s SS10 collection. Look for them to start appearing in stores around January.

People’s Market ‘Edhealy’ Varsity Jacket

Selectism - people-market-varsity-jacket

This varsity was our favourite piece from People’s Market’s AW09 collection and now it’s in stores, we can take a closer look. Before we get into all that, we have to say something about this model.

Like most ASOS models, there’s something annoying about this guy, although we can’t point out exactly what that is. Maybe it’s the hat. Maybe it’s his face. Whatever it is, don’t let it put you off the actual piece. Beware that People’s Market fits tight, so you’ll probably be best off sizing up if you want a slim instead of skinny fit. (ASOS)
