Selectism - Rick Owens Tokyo Store

Openers Japan has a look into the new Rick Owens store in Tokyo’s Aoyama district. As Owens himself mentions, “I am very happy to open a boutique in Tokyo. Japan has a high aesthetic standards of purity was always for me.” The cave like feel of the store is accentuated by rocks, fire, and fur, complementing Rick Owen’s unique flavor.

Selectism - Cheap Monday Basic Shirts

Sometimes we forget to just report on the simple things in fashion. The Cheap Monday “Basic Shirt” in white or black is a well fitted button-up shirt that comes with just a tinge of elasticity in the fabric to get it right for you. The best part of the 70$US price tag. Not too bad at all and Scandinavian fitted – a proper alternative to the mall button-ups. Available now at Needs.

Selectism - "The Egg Chair" by Alexander McQueen Returns

Alexander McQueen developed “The Egg Chair” in 2002 but for Christmas 2009, it is being re-issued under the women’s collection. “The Egg Chair as part of the store design originally created by Alexander McQueen, makes a return this season with a revamped exterior featuring the dogtooth print, heavily featured in McQueen’s A/W 09 collection. As part of a special project, five customised limited edition chairs will be produced to coincide with next season’s Women’s Collection entitled, ‘The Horn of Plenty’, available this September in the London and New York boutiques.” (dazeddigital)

Selectism - Palladium Pampa Boots for Winter 2009

We first took notice of the Palladium line during the January Las Vegas tradeshows. Since then, they have come alive of sorts with a great marketing campaign that does its best to educate you on the boots but also on some unknown spots around the United States. For Winter, Palladium gets premium on the market with their Pampa Hi and Baggy models. They come shearling lined for the winter and are available in a few choice leathers including our choice: suede camel.

Band of Outsiders for Sperry Top-sider A/W 2009

Selectism - Band of Outsiders for Sperry Top-sider A/W 2009

Highsnobiety comes through with a comprehensive look at the Autumn/Winter 2009 Band of Outsiders for Sperry Top-sider collection. A nice variety of looks which should be on the shelves now. “Next to mid boat shoes, Chukkas, regular boat shoes and loafers, the most interesting new releases in the collection are probably the Rubber Boat Shoes. These come with a painted Trompe L’oeil, basically faking the look of a regular boat with graphics on an otherwise seamless upper. They present several colorways of this special release. The Chukka comes in both suede and premium leathers with nice striped canvas linings.”

Monocle for Oliver Spencer Oxford Shirts

selectism - oliver-spencer-monocle-oxford-shirt-01

Monocle, aka the only magazine success story of 2009, have collaborated with Oliver Spencer on a set of oxford shirts. They’ve had a few collab missteps lately (yes, we mean those awful Beams watches) but with this and the recent Bill Amberg collab, it looks they’ve got their mojo back. The shirts themselves are available in white and blue and they’re strictly limited edition (60 in each colour). They’ll be available in Oliver Spencer and Monocle’s physical and online stores from early September.

Take the leap to see detailed shots of this collab.

Sperry Authentic Waxed Chukka Boots

selectism - sperry-deck-boot-01

It’s always nice to feature an item you’ve been following for months on end. We featured these boots way back in February, but now they’re finally in stores. But (there’s always a but) there’s good news and bad news.

The good news is they’re affordably priced (£85) and will look great when they’ve been beaten up a little. The bad news is that every cool guy you know will have a pair due to said affordability. Our advice? Hop on this trend early and hate on everyone who buys a pair after you do. (End)

Paul Smith Floral Cervantes Shoes

These should come attached with a ‘proceed with extreme caution’ label. Floral patterns are hard enough to pull off in the first place, but if you’ve been trying to look like De Niro in Deer Hunter – like 92.5% of menswear bloggers right now – then these are downright dangerous. Even if you can’t pull these off, you can always admire them from a distance. (Paul Smith)

Check out the detailed shots after the leap.
