Harvard Yard | Harvard’s Menswear Line

Selectism - Harvard Yard | Harvard's Menswear Line

This one came as a surprise to us. The mecca of academia is about to drop a menswear line. “Harvard Yard is a collaboration between Harvard University and private label tailored clothing manufacturer Wearwolf Group, which has licensed the name from the school to produce a contemporary men’s wear collection based on classic Ivy League style. The license, arranged by The Collegiate Licensing Co., not only highlights the growing relevance of classic American style, but also stands as perhaps the first time an American university has lent its name to a fashion-oriented collection of apparel.” (wwd)

More looks from the Harvard Yard collection after the jump.

  1. mike:

Ok so this is the second story today I’ve seen you publish linking to this WWD website.. both this article and the one on the bags. Yet we can’t even see these links as WWD is a subscription based service. Is this some sort of collaboration or under the table advertising? or what exactly is going on with Selectism and WWD?

  2. There’s no collaboration or under the table advertising going on. We subscribe to WWD, so we can see the news they put up. We put it up here and put a link to WWD so people know where we got the news from. That’s all there is to it.

  3. Great article. Thanks for posting!

    HAHHAHAHHAHAHAHAH!!!!!!!! Talk about garbage!

  6. “…but also stands as perhaps the first time an American university has lent its name to a fashion-oriented collection of apparel.”

Actually, this is incorrect. Franklin & Marshall College was the first American college to lend it’s name to a fashion-oriented collection of apparel – namely, Franklin and Marshall, an Italian clothing company whose fashions have been worn by the likes of David Beckham.

  7. Adam:

It’s a really clean line, w/o being too arrogant. Thanks

No, no, NO. I went there: it\\\’s a school. Maybe it has less alcohol and more BS than most college campuses, but it is not an Old Boy\\\’s Club any more. Even the Finals Clubs have been cut off from Official Harvard for years. Why associate with the sort of patriarchal, patrician f***wits who buy prohibitively-expensive ugly plaid and paisley in the middle of a recession?

  10. Harvard Man:

Wow. Those clothes are “fugly.” Stupid Harvard. Obviously someone there still think the Yard is exclusively populated by rich white boys who can’t afford socks and wear horrible tapered trousers rolled up at the ankle to highlight their dorky over-shined loafers.

  11. Hareton:

MR\\\’06 – because elite needs to stand out from plebeians like you.
