Neil Barrett Spring/Summer 2010 Runway

Selectism - Neil Barrett Spring/Summer 2010 Runway

Trendland gives an overview of the Spring/Summer 2010 offering from Neil Barrett. “The elongated silhouettes and color and fabric contrasts were a great step in a new direction for him. Double breasted finely tailored jackets and two-column plackets on the shirts give his man a sleek and very fashion forward look, without making him an eye soar. Keeping in the black, white, and gray palette made all the detailing pop.”

Tobi has put together some excellent looks at the Shipley & Halmos Men’s Autumn 2009 collection. The Dublin peacoat is very much a standout in a slight charcoal grey finish, as well as the Prague Cashmere Sweater which dresses with it’s South American cousin, the Bogota Button down.

Selectism - Barbour Waxed Cotton Hunting Cap

Today would not be the day to wear this excellent Barbour Waxed Cotton Hunting Cap. Maybe in a few months when the weather gets colder. But we love the idea of breaking in the waxed cotton to our own lids. A great look which will keep your head and ears safe from the elements… when necessary. Get it at Oi Polloi or other fine Barbour retailers.

Naked & Famous Spring/Summer 2010 Belts

If you’re the man who’s been on a search for a belt made from reticulated python then, to be honest, you’re a little weird. Nontheless, your wishes have been answered with the Naked & Famous SS10 belt collection. Thinking ahead, the Canadian born duo have also made a few leather belts – on the off chance that a python belt wasn’t exactly what you were looking for. Their leather belts are a more standard affair; bovine leather from the USA which is then made in Canada. There’s natural (now obligatory), brown and black whilst the python comes in black matte, patent and natural.

Factotum Parka

selectism - factotum-jacket-01

We just can’t help ourselves, Japanese fashion sites are our addiction. We find them as irresistible as Rick Ross finds cupcakes (or any food, you don’t get that big being picky). But, chubby rapppers aside, we’ve got a good reason to show this Factotum parka – it looks great. It’s not a deep reason – we’re no scholars here – but a reason nonetheless. Usually we’d say get a proxy, but as the piece looks to have sold out, just admire it from a distance. (Mindtrive)

Hot Type, Hard Times 1900-1910

21 August 2009, 14.45 | Posted in Art | No comments »

curated mag - Hot Type, Hard Times 1900-1910

In the first decade of the 20th-century, Idaho Falls transformed from a frontier boom town to a civilized city. In the course of the decade wars were waged between tavern owners, bootleggers and gamblers and the proponents of temperance. Some of this battle was fought on the pages of the three local newspapers. Hot Type, Hard Times, an exhibition at The Museum of Idaho tells the story of Idaho Falls through print. The machinery required to produce the news plays center stage, augmented by some rare ephemera. In short, it is a tale of both rapid change in the city and the wider industrial change sweeping America during the period. (via Curated).
