Common Projects for Patrik Ervell Oxford Shoe

12 August 2009, 10.30 | Posted in Shoes | 1 comment »

selectism - common-projects-patrik-ervell-oxford-01

It’s nice when designers have something in Common. CP’s Peter Poopat and Patrik Ervell have both previously worked at fashion magazines that started with the letter V (Visionaire and V magazine respectively) and both have moved on to create minimal lines that focus on the details and luxurious materials.

So this collab, which was first seen back at Ervell’s runway show, always made perfect sense. Material wise this has been CP’s most adventurous season yet and, not content with making rubber a high grade material, they’ve used nylon on these shoes. At £326/€377/$534 they’re not cheap, but they’re worth it. (Tres Bien)

You know the drill, detailed shots after that leap.

Selectism - Warriors of Radness Spring 2010 Lookbook

Selectism favorite, Warriors of Radness, passes over some looks at their Spring 2010 collection. Check the looks below but if you like some tunes while you browse, be sure to visit the online lookbook and hear “Gidget Goes to Hell” by The Suburban Lawns. Kinda sets the mood we think to a line which tries not to target surf for the casualness of it all.

Selectism - Iroquois Autumn 2009

Fashionisto profiles Japan’s Iroquois line. “Aiming for free expression this fall, Japanese label Iroquois offers ‘Be Natural’–a story of vintage clothing, music, and travel. Embarking on a romantic celebration of diversity, the collection takes us on a sporadic journey joined by friends. Here, one can be themselves and at ease. The eclectic range is unassuming, yet offers a great array of season appropriate pieces that encompass everything from heavy knits to sherling vests.”

Henrik Vibskov Spring/Summer 2010

Selectism - Henrik Vibskov Spring/Summer 2010

Henrik Vibskov’s show for Spring/Summer 2010 gets you right there. For me, it’s a condition of trying to determine what he is saying with his wigged and masked models while cutting through it all for a view into his world of fashion for 2010. Though I prefer my shows sans donkeys (see below), Vibskov may continue to re-imagine whatever he wants whenever he wants. We’ll keep trying to figure it all out. (cqc)

Selectism - Klaxon Howl Autumn/Winter 2009

Klaxon Howl is described by NYT as “a homegrown men’s label that blends vintage military gear with its own rugged work shirts, selvage denim jeans and waxed cotton jackets.” The Toronto based label and shop will hopefully garner some fresh press for their in trend looks. The trench coat looks promising.

Selectism - KZO Timber Pants

A unique pocket finish is found on these pants from KZO. The Timber pant comes in grey or black and offers a nice alternative to denim. “These heavy trousers offer your old jeans a much-needed break and afford you ample opportunities to upgrade your style. Exterior front pockets take them into workwear and military looks without being typical of either genre.” (blackbird)

Grenson For ASOS Two Tone Correspondent

11 August 2009, 17.30 | Posted in Shoes | No comments »

selectism - grenson-asos-correspondent-shoe

Here’s another sneak peek at a shoe from Grenson’s upcoming addition to ASOS’s ‘Best of British’ collection. Like the brogue, the two tone correspondent is a quintessentially British shoe – which would make sense given the title of the collection.

If you’re ready to step away from the tan brogues, but not quite ready enough to step to the Prada studded versions, then a shoe like this is a good halfway house. Just remember to scuff those leather soles (a tip we got from a shoemaker) unless you want to slip all over the place. The Best of British collection will be offically launched around late September.

Selectism - Oscar Niemeyer | Ultimate Collection

Modernist architect Oscar Niemeyer developed at the side of Le Corbussier. During his career he shifted from the hard lines of his mentor to more sensual structures. Using reinforced concrete, Niemeyer helped to redefine the possibility in everyday buildings.

Celebrating the full scope of Niemeyer, Assouline’s new edition Oscar Niemeyer | Ultimate Collection explores the architects life and career through photographs, sketches, and contributions from many of the world’s leading architects. (via Curated).
