Jason Schwartzman for Band of Outsiders Autumn 2009

Selectism - Jason Schwartzman for Band of Outsiders Autumn 2009

Hotel Chevalier is still up there as one of my favorite Schwartzman shorts. Portman is pretty hot in it as well – if not complex. Anyways, Band of Outsiders laced up Mr. Schwartzman and took a great series of their famous Polaroid shots of the man wearing their Autumn 2009 collection. While we’re not a celeb blog, we’re more than willing to give space for a smart actor and an even smarter clothing line. (fashonisto)

Selectism - Asked & Answered | Levi Strauss & Co.

The kings of heritage, ACL, spent some time with Levi’s historian, Lynn Downey to discuss all things Levi’s heritage. “History is the basis for everything that is ACL. With that said, when the opportunity arose to spend the afternoon with Lynn Downey the Levi Strauss & Co. archivist and historian, I could imagine of no better way to enjoy a summer day.”

Selectism - 3sixteen Autumn 2009 Lookbook

The two man army behind 3sixteen continue to produce rather respective menswear in a very difficult market. These men and their team of assistants prove once again that not everyone has to be cutthroat to succeed. 3sixteen’s Autumn 2009 collection extends and refines the brand’s look and feel for a consumer that understands the well mannered nature of the people behind the line. If anything, they have shown their ability to be attentive and aware of the marketplace.

Selectism - Joe McCoy Deer Skin Vest

Chicago’s own Joe McCoy brand comes through with a banger of a vest for the Autumn/Winter market. The deer skin vest is “tanned with natural vegetable tanning process and colored with aniline for the main body . Horse hide used for chest patches.” Those willing to plunge into this beauty will be sure they’re not in the same class as those North Face lovers (nothing wrong with them though). (superdenim)

Vruchtvlees “Noir” Shirt Line

Selectism - Vruchtvlees "Noir" Shirt Line

The Dutch label, Vruchtvlees, brings back their graphic looks for their “Noir” collection. The collection, like most, pulls from the artists world of art, music, and fashion. Nothing too special there. But, they have made available an epaulette accessories kit by Marlous De Roode. The kit is really for the women’s market but we figured some may want to re-appropriate the epaulette for unisex use. Just putting it out there…

Aarn Drill Press Lamp

Selectism - Aarn Drill Press Lamp

Aaron Panone has an appreciation for re-interpretation. A mechanical and electrical engineer by trade, Mr. Panone enjoys spending his free time building one off goods that are functional while retaining a sense of industry. The Aarn Drill Press Lamp is a great example of this. While it now functions as a dining room lamp, the drill press itself is still in full working order when Panone actually needs to use it.

Giuliano Fujiwara Spring/Summer 2010 Shoes

Selectism - Giuliano Fujiwara Spring/Summer 2010 Shoes

If you like shark soles, then you’re in luck – Fujiwara’s got them in abundance. The SS10 shoe collection focuses on shark soled boots, occasionally detouring into dress shoes that almost give Mr. Hare a run for his money. The other main theme in this collection is the elongated toe, which makes an appearance on just about every shoe. It won’t be to everyone’s tastes – but if you can pull it off you’ll look like a bawse.

Detailed images are after that leap.

Selectism - Naked & Famous Spring/Summer 2010 Shirts

It’s easy to reinvent a heritage brand; just buy out the name, put a bunch of black and white pictures on the site and include a bio about how one man started the company in his back garden. Naked & Famous are doing things the hard way, focusing on making their products in their homeland of Canada (these shirts were made by the oldest surviving shirt manufacturer in North America) and using premium fabrics.

As for the shirts themselves, they’re what you’d expect from a company like N&F – chambray, denim and oxford shirts all show up whilst check shirts make an appearance. The shirts are rather slim fitting, meaning they’ll be easier to layer than the slightly bulkier oxfords people have become accustomed to.

Go take a look at the rest of the shirts after this leap…
