Selectism - White's Boots Original Smoke Jumper

The gentlemen in the design firm next to me in the studio are raving at the moment over these Smoke Jumpers from White’s Boots. Upon examination of the website promoting these made to order boots, you realize how old school this system is. You must print out and mail in the measurement chart for a pair of these custom kickers. Within eight weeks you’ll have your own pair of “forest industry” class boots. To quote one architect, “anything good takes a few weeks to make… you should know that by now.” Here’s the best part -”Meets or exceeds requirements of NFPA 1977, Standard on Protective Clothing and Equipment for Wildland Fire Fighting, 2005 Edition.” Also available from Ben Meadow.

wow, I was wondering when these would get picked up by some blogs. Been wearing them for years fighting fires in Montana. You can get a special honey gum rubber sole that makes them a little stickier on the rocks and a tad cushier. They will wear quicker than the traditional vibram sole though. They make a lace-to-toe model too and even roughouts which look really nice. Anyone around Spokane can go to the factory and get fitted.
