02. Per Se Dinner Offers First Sips Of New Bacon Beer

On Friday nights many people go on the quest for a good beer but take that simple idea to Per Se restaurant in New York City and the idea gets a little more complicated (and fabulous). Tomorrow, September 18, Per Se is hosting a beer-paired tasting dinner with brewmaster Garrett Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery. Brooklyn Brewery Beers will be matched with a seven-course tasting menu. Among the other offerings, this is your first chance to taste “Reinschweinsgebot” an innovative beer infused with bacon from Benton’s Country Smokehouse. You can’t go wrong with bacon. This event will take place in the Per Se Private Dining Room and costs $350 per person.” (luxist)

03. Friendly Fires Remix Phoenix

“Just when you thought we were putting a cap on our ongoing coverage of how it’s been a Very Phoenix Summer, with the logical extension of the band’s brand expansion (stumping for fun-loving luxury SUVs, naturally), here we are today — another day, another Phoenix remix. But this one’s fun! Pretty fun. Instead of dub and chill club, past Decomposed session vets transform the Wolfgang tune du jour (”Fences,” which is a first as far as I can tell) into a cowbell-pitched house cut, relocating the band from the ’80s to the decade later. ” (stereogum)

04. Battery Wizard Snaps Disposable Batteries Out Of Their Slumber

“The association between batteries and geeks is like a romance between “two young star-cross’d lovers”, to take a little help from Shakespeare. Only, the relationship is most certainly polygamous. For, every geek in his lifetime depends on hundreds of different kinds of ‘em lovely batteries to maintain his identity. Now, this is where we want to step in and reduce those that he’s not taking seriously – the “disposable” ones, you see.” (popgadget)

Louis Vuitton ‘Monogram Macassar’

louis vuttion monogram macassar bags men 000 Louis Vuitton Monogram Macassar

Louis Vuitton has unveiled a new line of men’s bags that brings a certain level of permanence to their male customer base. The “Monogram Macassar” is surprisingly the first permanent Monogram line dedicated to men. We say it’s about time. The “monogrammed” mens market has clearly exploded with the rise of Vuitton as a statement in street fashion – if not a staple.

The “Monogram Macassar” is inspired by the hazel-brown and black striped Macassar Ebony Wood. The monogram canvas is paired with black matte leather and “shiny palladium hardware” all of which is dinstinctly Vuitton. Gentleman hungry for their shot at Vuitton goodness may choose from a variety of models including the “Neo Greenwich,” “Keepall 55″ holdall weekender, ad our favorite, the “Steamer Bag” which is clearly the iconic look with it’s spacious interior, padlock closure, and scratch resistant canvas.

The Louis Vuitton “Monogram Macassr” line does not come cheap though. Expect to spend some dosh. The “Monogram Macassar” line ranges from $1000US – $4040 – fair game for some baggage which should last for generations.

The Noir A-Z Book

Selectism - The Noir A-Z Book

English photographer Julian Hibbard offers an adult take on the alphabet book in The Noir A-Z The Noir A Z Book. Replacing whimsical sketches of kids in letter shape with provocative pairings of word and image, Hibbard has concocted a dark and voyeuristic vision. An element of danger consumes each letter, tying the images into a loose narrative. Each page representative of Noir, the book achieves more than the base context of A-Z.

The images are sexy. They are also just complex enough to pull emotional strings through an easily read composition. O for “observed” seduces the reader into spying on a pure an innocent woman. Hibbard manages to tie the reader to the scene as active participant and not simply observer. That, in part, is the art of Noir A-Z. And, in full, the fun of the book.

Hibbard’s work has been in exhibited in London, Scotland, Santiago de Chile, New York and Los Angeles. He’s been honored at the 2008 International Photography Awards and was given an ASME Award in 2007. The Noir A-Z is published by Mark Batty Publisher, an independent imprint dedicated to distinctive books on the visual art of communication.

Available now through Amazon The Noir A Z Book.
